Reid needs to come out NOW firing both barrels before the "MEME" start
Reid and all the other democrats who supported cloture need to get their asses on every news outlet now explaining why they blocked the spending bill.

Because right now every republican mouthpiece is out there talking about the other items in the bills - the items packaged in there in order to tug at the heartstrings of american when O'Reilly talks about how democrats don't want to help out the poor with their heating bills or how we don't want to provide money to help rebuild the gulf coast (it was in there). Hannity will be talking about how unpatriotic we are for not providing money to help equip our military or take care of our veterans (that's in the bill too).

It was a massive bills and a lot of 'heart-string' money was put in there to be used against the democrats should they attempt to filibuster due to drilling in the Arctic Refuge. I can almost guarantee that's why Mary Landrieu was free to support the bill because god forbid we don't want her pissing off the people of her own state who need that $29billion to help rebuild.

So even though I, as a norm, boycott cable news I'm going to be watching tonight and the democrat rally should be this "We'll vote for the spending bill as soon as you remove the ANWR drilling from it then we can all go home for Christmas" (and say Christmas just to piss off O'Reilly)

2. They may be on weak ground now but they made an AWOL chimp
look like the winner against Kerry's decorated war record.

So knowing that, we shouldn't go out there defensive but just to the point. Say we support this bill once ANWR is removed. And toss in the word Christmas (not holiday) a whole hell of alot. Because a democrat saying "Christmas" will make the repukes head explode while pulling at the heartstrings of average america who really doesn't comprehend this so-called 'War on Christmas'

3. And not be defensive. Be offensive.

Republicans are holding support of our troops in Iraq and our help for the Katrina victims HOSTAGE unless their oil companies are allowed to drill in Alaska.

They keep getting defeated on ANWR and have decided to hold America HOSTAGE until they get their way.

They don't care about the troops or those victimized by negligent natural-disaster response failure and are putting their own repeatedly-defeated legislations into those plans to hold Americans and our troops HOSTAGE unless we agree.

4. "We won't be bullied, we won't be blackmailed"
I think they'll be out there. But will the blogosphere support them if the words don't come from one of the beloved.

“The Senate today stood up against a dangerous abuse of power and made it clear it’s unacceptable to put oil companies ahead of our troops. We won’t be bullied, we won’t be blackmailed. The lines have rarely been drawn so clearly between right and wrong. It’s wrong to put the wishes of oil companies ahead of brave American soldiers. It’s right to stand up, speak your mind, and follow your conscience by keeping faith with our troops and starting to fix a broken Washington. This is just the start. As long as I have a vote in the United States Senate, I won’t let special interest demands destroy the environment and endanger our energy security. This is a start to the fight to reform Washington.”
