Former VP Gore travels in Comfort:
Edited on Wed Dec-21-05 11:34 PM by KoKo01
By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press WriterWed Dec 21, 8:45 AM ET

Vice President Al Gore didn't suffer for comfort on the cavernous cargo plane that he rode into Iraq and Afghanistan this week.

The Air Force loaded the plane with the "silver bullet," a mobile home in the sky strapped down in the middle of the belly. The accommodations included sleeping and working quarters that protected him from the noise and cold of the cargo hold during a more than five-hour flight into Baghdad.

The rest of his traveling party was not so lucky. Gore's senior staff and junior aides were assigned to a cramped three rows of seats in front of the bullet, while reporters and Secret Service agents had to sit in jump seats along the side with a view of Gore's stainless steel exterior walls.

Gore used the C-17 cargo plane for security purposes when flying to and from Iraq and Afghanistan. The C-17 is an inconspicuous gray aircraft less likely to draw attention than the normal Air Force II — a blue and white 757 emblazoned "United States of America" in the same style as the president's larger Air Force One.

The 757 — with reclining leather seats for all and a private cabin for Gore — was used to ferry the vice president back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean and on his trip to Pakistan, his other stop on the four-day tour aimed at building support for the war on terror.

Despite the noise and seating conditions on the C-17, Gore's staff eventually was able to nod off after days of exhaustive travel. Gore emerged from his more spacious quarters at one point to pose for a picture standing in front of several rows of his dozing aides.

(NOTE: Gore is in Italics.......check the link to see who this really is about.

23. Apologize Zidzi. I did put "Gore" in italics and figured folks would catch
Edited on Wed Dec-21-05 11:30 PM by KoKo01
on that it was a post showing that something like this if it was a Dem would have been all over the place (although Gore would NEVER behave like this) and how when a Repug behaves in a boorish, greedy way...the M$M doesn't even follow through on it. No ravings from Coulter or Malkin on Cheney's behavior..instead they'd rather make up lies about Dems..

11. Are you saying this was an accurate portrayal of Gore?
So she slammed Cheney, she certainly had an agenda to portray an elitist and unflattering picture of Gore, and is it even true? Once the damage is done, who is going to "re-check"?

Due to the fact there have been so many lies printed about Gore, Im just a tad skeptical. Especially with Nedra Pickler's history of her propagandizing tendencies.

I would love to hear from those who flew on the flight.

instead of Big Dick, we would have heard little else from 24-hour cable, and some print press would have a graphic made to make the picture clearer.

Substitute Clinton for Bush almost anytime, and just imagine.

7. I'm not so sure it works well, as you say. The first thing I thought when
reading the excerpt was, "That doesn't sound like Al Gore." So then I checked out the real article.

8. Oh that Nedra...doing another puff piece for Al? When will she get tough?
Lies and more lies dressed up as "journalism".

But those who flew, will they have a microphone to tell the real story? Of course not. Not here in America.

So the media continues their daily demonizing of those who are doing good and continuing to reward those destroying everything.

Another glorious day in America.

12. There sure have been a lot of marginalizing "jokes" at Gore's expense.
And of course, so many of them have not been in any form or fashion accurate.

It's not particularly funny considering many folks won't look at the link. I bought it for a moment, was disappointed in Gore, and then realized the "joke".

Not funny.

19. Sorry for fooling folks but wanted to make a point ..We've heard Nothing
out there about this aside from this article. I posted about it a couple of days ago and I think Earl G. had it on DU Front Page...but I haven't seen a peep about this anywhere.

If this HAD been Al Gore we would never have heard the end of it! Think about charging his I-Pod while reporters needed the outlet to charge their laptops to file stories.

How do these people get a Pass? Because we know for sure the Whore Media is bought and paid for.

I posted it to make a point...figured most folks would get it...and sorry if some folks got upset and thought I was dissing Gore... I guess we are all so used to being abused by the M$M we just jump the gun these days...

:-(

that if this had been Al Gore, we'd have all heard about it, but since it's Cheney, the media is ignoring it.

Congratulations on finding a choice of words that had staying power, btw.

It ain't over yet! I admit that these types of posts piss me off. It seems to be happening more and more on DU that you can't believe the post headlines. Everyone thinks they are so clever and, in my opinion, it just makes them look foolish.

22. Like to explain this KoKo01?
Can you let us in on this piece of satire? I read the article...seems like a negative piece on Cheney...but what's the point of changing the name to Al Gore. If your making a point about the mrdia, I think you picked an odd article to make it with....and even less so, putting Al Gore into this story.

29. Precisely....if Gore had done this
We would have had page after page in the various newspapers and most TV channels covering it and political commentators talking about it day after day. Then when he launched his presidential campaign, it would come up in every biographical profile and would be cited as evidence against him and so on

The double standards and hypocrisy of the press is disgusting beyond words

34. So, we condemn the media for writing a critical article about Cheney?
Yeah, this makes sense. :eyes: This is the kind of article that pissed us off when she wrote similar BS about Gore in 2000....I'm sure the administration bots will be as pissed with this as we were with these kind of stories. It's encouraging to me that we are seeing media pieces that are framing this administration in a critical light. So, again, (1) why beat the media for telling an honest, unflattering story about this administration and (2) why drag Gore into this?

Sorry, this didn't work for me at any level - media insight, humor, or satire.
