To The Religious Right: Merry Christmas!
I hope every fundamentalist Christian family has a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year.

And while you are enjoying your family and your loved ones and the time shared together during the holidays, maybe, just maybe you can reflect a little on the meaning of love and family.

There are almost no gays and lesbians anywhere who want to make it illegal for you to marry the person with whom you are in love and wish to spend your life.

There are almost no gays and lesbians anywhere who do not want your family to thrive under the system of freedom and liberty we have enshrined in our constitution.

There are almost no gays and lesbians anywhere who want to make it legal for employers to fire you or any of your family members, simply because of your religious beliefs.

There are almost no gays and lesbians anywhere who would lie and demagogue about your family or your beliefs in an effort to whip up hatred against you to score political points.

Yet, for some reason, and contrary to the teachings of Jesus Christ Himself, you do all of the above to gays and lesbians.

Even though you irrationally despise me and folks like me, I want you to know that there are many of us who wish nothing but the best for you and your families and hope that love will eventually fill your hearts with the full measure of the Christmas spirit, so that you may someday be able to enjoy and appreciate EVERYONE'S happiness, and not just your own.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

4. You're better than me, by far, perhaps an "older" soul, as it were
For my part, I can't think of enough rotten crap to happen to such rotten people. Boils? Raining frogs? Plagues of locusts? Non-stop telemarketing calls? It's only an appetizer of the hell they deserve.

Sorry.

6. Merry Christmas to all! (Translated into whatever words 'work' for you.)
After all, it's the thought that counts.

Perhaps that's the problem? The 'thought'...NOT the actual words that bother so many who SAY they "mean" well for all.

7. There are almost no atheists and agnostics anywhere...
There are almost no atheists and agnostics anywhere who want to make it illegal for you to own a Bible or pray to your God.

There are almost no atheists and agnostics anywhere who want to smash churches and Christian cemeteries.

There are almost no atheists and agnostics anywhere who want to teach kids to practice witchcraft and worship the devil.

(Nice thought, and I agree 100%, but...do you think anyone from the Religious Right is here reading any of this?)
