It just doesn't get any better than this...
Edited on Mon Dec-26-05 01:00 PM by No Exit
...or any plainer, starker, more obvious, perfect-er, funnier, stupider:

Rush Limbaugh, from his radio show on December 22, 2005 (subject: Spygate):
“Liberals and Democrats,” Limbaugh claimed, “are only opposed to this because they don’t want anyone finding out what they’ve been up to. … What have you folks been doing that you so desperately want to keep hidden?”

Rush's attorney Roy Black with Wolf Blitzer on December 15, 2005:

BLITZER: "If Rush Limbaugh has nothing to hide and has done nothing wrong, what’s the problem with letting the prosecutor speak to the doctors and go through all the records?"

BLACK: "Well, Wolf, that’s an excellent question. A lot of people ask this all the time. You know what? We have a right of privacy in this country that I think is important for us to hold onto. I mean, we could let prosecutors and police into our bedrooms, search our computers, watch us having sex. We could let them do all these things, but then we would have a police state. We would no longer have a democracy. I think it’s very important to fight these privacy battles—and Rush Limbaugh has taken on this battle of privacy with your doctor, and I think it has really been a public service for him. Not only for himself but everybody else who wants their medical records and medical treatment kept private and not to be disclosed in the press or with the police or prosecutors or anyone else who has no business being there."

(Would somebody please tell that liberal Mr. Black that his blathering on about "right of privacy" and "police state" is ohhhh soooo 10 years ago???

1. LOLOL - I saw that earlier
too bad stories like that don't get widely circulated. BTW, I think what he's covering up in those medical records have nothing to do with drugs.

4. I don't agree
We have to expose these people and the lies they tell. If we ignore them, they'll only get worse. Rush is perhaps the most dangerous of them all.

8. "Witnessing"?
Isn't that fundamentalist talk?

You know, I was at one time kind of moderate about fundamentalists. I live in a state that has a lot of them. I myself am Catholic. I saw the fundamentalists and their ilk as benign, and asked myself, what is so wrong about believing deeply in Jesus and trying to live one's beliefs?

I didn't even mind too much when they said Catholics "aren't Christians". But now I've run out of patience with them; turns out, they are heavily into politics. And their politics is not friendly to me. (And no, I was not a dyed-in-the-wool liberal... I was a republican supporter up until 2003, which means, for most of my life.)

So, to return, why the fundamentalist lingo?

11. His reality has nothing to do with his ditto heads reality
He makes up reality all the time and has been caught so many times but spoon feeds his listeners on fascist talking points. Then he will deny he said anything if he gets caught in his lies and his dittoheads believe him.

The cult of Rush is evident
what an ass.

12. Limbaugh vs. Limbaugh

That’s exactly what happened here. It’s not being accurately reported. We argued this, Roy Black argued this yesterday, but the truth of this matter is that this goes beyond just me, and that’s why this is at the appellate court, it’s why it’s going to be some weeks before they decide this. There’s a Florida statute which is very clear—the Florida legislature wrote it for the express purpose—it’s very clear that a subpoena must be used, and the purpose of the subpoena is to notify the patient.

Then there’s a hearing where the law enforcement authorities tell a court what they’re looking for, and narrow the search so that they don’t get to see the whole medical file. There are things in people’s medical files that are irrelevant to whatever it is would be searched. But this prosecutor ignored the statute, a statute, by the way, he had been admonished for ignoring two years ago by this same appellate court and stormed into the offices of four of my doctors with search warrants, with the sole purpose of intimidating the doctors and their staff.

…It is outrageous to me that in a judicial system that presumes innocence, the Palm Beach state attorney prosecutor yesterday presumed lawbreaking to justify their own skirting of the law.

18. He probably has more than 4, by far!
And some of it is legit: he's gone deaf, you know. Happened about 2 and a half years ago. I remember him explaining it on the radio.

What he didn't say is that overuse of certain narcotics can actually cause deafness. I know of two other people who had hearing problems while they were in their 20's-30's, and both used narcotics.

24. Thanks for the article!
And it makes clear that vicodin and oxycontin are essentially the same thing.

I still remember when he announced he'd lost his hearing. At the time, of course, the probable reason for the hearing loss was not known, b/c he passed it off as "autoimmune disorder". He apparently has a habit of lying... not unusual in addicts.

The ultimate hypocrite, Rush Limbaugh.

19. Torture is the answer to this
America does not need liberal attorneys defending a "right to privacy" that is nowhere in the Constitution! Rush claims to be a strict constructionist. There you have it. And to think that the ACLU has come to Rush's defense! And he has apparently accepted it!

How about the prosecuting attorney using another method of obtaining an answer? Surely one of those "fraternity pranks", as Rush called them, would do it. Like attaching electrodes to Rush's testicles. (After all, "testify" and "testicle" come from the same Latin root.) This would even be fun to televise. I'm sure Rush wouldn't mind us taking bets before the show on how teeny his peeny is! After all, it is all in fun and would save everyone loads of time and money! If it's OK for out soldiers to do, it must be OK for home use. And we would all sleep better at night knowing that an accused drugee is either innocent or is behind bars!
