"Iraq is the totality of their legacy" -- They Wish
Here we go again. The Republicans would absolutely love it if they could make this whole election cycle about Iraq. They can't avoid the stink of it, so they are trying to compartmentalize it and make it "the only thing wrong" with Bush. Pay no attention to the rest of the Republican stench. Never mind the country-sized disaster that has been Hurricane George.

I like the way Weber makes his quote "the totality of their legacy." The whole formulation amounts to: The only problem Bush has is Iraq, and he is working to solve his problem. He is being big. His people are rethinking things...

It's a beautiful piece of misdirection. I think even Huffpo was fooled. They had the "totality of their legacy" quote at the top of their home page as if it were something the Republicans wouldn't want to see emphasized.

2. People forgot the enormous deficit accrued by Reagan, which was supposed
to be a major factor in his legacy, but, once Clinton balanced the budget it was forgotten.

The GOP controlled media made certain of that.

3. It always boils down...
to the media, doesn't it?

Symbolman has it right....without a vibrant, healthy fourth estate, we do
NOT have anything resembling a Democrac, or a Republic for that matter.

4. They were smart to buy up broadcast media in the 80s and 90s.
Criminal smart.

5. Gawd, you'd have to be an idiot to fall for that.
Oh, wait. Well, it just might work.
