Tennessee State Senator Jeff Miller threatens newspaper not to spill

the beans on his girlfriend. newspaper not afraid.

Santa and his elves didn't just bring stockings full of goodies for the kiddies on Christmas, he also brought with him a bountiful bag of Republican hypocrisy.

Take Tennessee Republican State Senator Jeff Miller, your average "family values" GOP poseur. The family always comes first to senator Miller, except when you are going through a divorce and a local newspaper talks about your dating.

Then family values takes second place to threatening advertisers in the local newspaper -- the Bradley News Weekly to be specific. Miller told local retailers in a town about 20 miles from Chattanooga, "Myself and many others are going to be watching in the next several weeks to identify and remember those in this community that wish to subsidize the destructive nature of this type of publication in our community."

Whoa! This guy is a Dick Cheney wannabe!

But the Bradley News Weekly, unlike the national mainstream media, knows a Republican hypocrite when it smells one. "Your platform is that of a guy who believes in the sanctity of marriage, and that marriage should be between one man and one woman. And your behavior doesn't support your platform. So, we report it," editor Barry Graham shot back at Miller in a recent issue.

congratulations to the Bradley News Weekly, a paper that can't be bullied

1. That ain't the worst of his problems, either
A former aide to state Sen. Jeff Miller said he talked to federal prosecutors this morning about the senator’s dealings with a fake company set up as part of Operation Tennessee Waltz and said he is scheduled to testify before a federal grand jury...Waller Henry, 43, a former research analyst for Miller, said he knows nothing about $1,000 in cash that Miller received from lobbyist Charles Love, nor did he witness Miller doing anything illegal.

Love has since pleaded guilty to offering bribes to other lawmakers in Tennessee Waltz.

Henry said Love called Miller’s office several times in2004 to ask Miller to sponsor legislation that would benefit E-Cycle, a computer recycling business. E-Cycle, it turned out, was a fake company set up by the FBI as part of the Tennessee Waltz sting.

Other current and former staffers for Miller, who is from Cleveland and is chairman of the Senate Republican Caucus, were also at the federal courthouse this morning, Henry said. They included Kurt Hippel, who was Miller’s legislative intern this year; Debbie Martin, a former secretary; and Jessa Fahey, who currently works in Miller’s office and is his girlfriend.....Miller has said that he viewed the money he got from Love as a campaign contribution.....
