Has the White House already talked with Arlen Specter ?

I thought I heard a blurb on the tube? If so, are they trying to intimidate Senator Specter also? Personally, I don't think Specter is easily intimidated. Anybody else hear of Specter meeting at the White House?

to see how vigorously he will pursue this, and getting their ducks in a row for an impeachment defense if it comes to that.

tell everybody the single bullet theory was a hoax? He's not going to be intimidated by the Texas chimp I don't think.

I remember the Anita Hill hearings. He was ruthless, relentless. I am so tired of everyone here on DU calling this man "moderate". He has shown himself to be among the worst of the Republican pigs. Don't expect anything out of these so-called hearings unless the Democrats can somehow be heard.

not partisan. But intent on finding out the truth and insisting that the investigation not stop until we are satisfied the American citizens have not been spied upon by this Administration. We say trust but verify. We want to see the evidence.

OTOH, better to have him as chair of the Judiciary than a radical neocon.

I too heard some passing reference to Specter's election campaign being influenced by the WH etc. Possible pressure etc.

He isn't up for election next year though.

The host on C-SPAN read an article this AM that indeed the White House was putting pressure on Senator Spector...
