Sam Brownback (R) 2008 is one to watch - very slick
I saw him interviewed on Cspan the other day, this guy is very smooth and although comes from the fundamentalist christian right wing you wouldn't know it from his answers. Intelligent and appears to be a man that can be trusted and presents himself as the All American common man, he is one in my opinion to keep an eye on for the Republican 2008 candidates.

1. IMO, slick though he may be, he is too identified with the fundamentalist.
wing to win the overall nomination. Now, if you want slick, look at George Allen of Virginia.....

I am from Kansas and he is slick. The republicans used to call Clinton Slick Willie. We need to call Brownback Slick Sammy.

5. Darn I was about to say that Allen will be the 2008 GOP nominee
I'd like us to remove him from that Virginia Senate seat. If we don't George Allen, another fake Cowboy, a fat Howdy Doody lookalike...yep he'll be the 2008 GOP nominee.

He might pick Governor Bill Owens of Colorado or maybe Senator Hagel of Nebraska.

7. He is a very, very conservative Catholic, Opus Dei type.
They are methodical about going after power. They are smooth, and very, very determined.

Be afraid, be very, ery afraid.

2. Every time I hear or read his name, now, it comes out as 'Brokeback'
Wasn't he one of the stars of that new movie? Or is it based on his life? Either way, we need to keep making that connection - his base will appreciate it so.

;)

4. He is an ASS
I write all my reps regularly and he NEVER replies to specific concerns. Instead, he sends out generic 'thank you for writing me' notices no more than once a year.

The local paper has been giving him all kinds of press lately because he is traveling around the globe to view poverty firsthand.

He really makes me want to :puke:

9. good thing there is no poverty in HIS state, so he can rip off the
taxpayers for travel expenses while people in your towns get their medicare slashed.

Sounds like intelligent design at work, eh?

8. From another Kansan:
The best and perhaps only positive thing I can say regarding Sam Brownback is that he is not Jim Ryun.
