How you can help bring down the GOP
Here's a focused campaign from dengre at DailyKos that's right on. Recommend you jump on board.

Abramoff: what's next and how you can help bring down the GOP
by dengre

And after more than six years of following this guy I know that the real work is just about to begin:

The GOP will lie. They will cherry pick slices of data to support simple-minded myths like Everybody Does It and Abramoff gave money to Democrats.
The press will have a very hard time with this story, because the corruption is so one-sided. Their Balance Bias will lead them to stupid examples of balance, like treating Harry Reid's support from Native Americans as equivalent to DeLay's $1 Million from the Russians, $500,000 from the Chinese owners of sweatshops and God (and Jack) knows what other bribes.
The Public will get confused.

Fortunately I think that the Netroots are up to the task. It is time to take down 60 plus elected GOP officials and a host of their fellow travelers.
Join me on the jump for what you can do to help...

Here are the four things we need to do to move this forward:

Oppose and knock down the lies.
Demand a full and fair investigation.
Research. Research. Research.
Get out the truth and hold the GOP accountable in 2006.

I think we have a good start on these.

<snip>
Get all the how-to's and what-to's at the link Let's get 'em! (or at the very least, let's bite their ankles.)

1. Newbie With Some Questions Here...
I know I'm a newbie, but please hear me out before you flame me.

I want these assholes taken down as much as anyone, but is this strategy measurable and attainable? I mean, how do you plan on doing this? Let's say, for example, that you do get lots of dirt on the rethugs, and the papers and news channels carry it. With the nearly complete distrust of the media by the general public, do you think people will buy it?

And, just as an aside...suppose the full and fair investigation turns up things that are bad for Dems. Will we use the same kind of tactics that we accuse the GOP of using, or will we, as a party, own up to it and take the punishment? I don't think we can be completely blind to the fact that there IS a possibility that some Dems will be implicated, and we can't look like hypocrites if we want people to take us seriously.

I know it's not necessarily pleasant to think about, but I think it deserves some mention. You have to analyze all possibilities if you want to make an effective plan of attack. Just my $.02.

2. I think the diary on DailyKos...
...is simply saying: Let's sort out what the truth is and let's be loud about it. The investigation might not be full or fair. The corporate media coverage probably won't be full or fair. And the internet has come along way and has considerable horsepower when it comes to a challenge like this.

And, of course, I can't speak for everybody but in mild terms I'd say most DU'ers are sick of all the corruption.

Here's some recent threads on the subject in case you missed them:

4. No flaming here either...
very valid questions with lots of possible answers, but THE number one answer SHOULD be... If a Democrat is shown to be dirty, take him out with the trash too. Corruption is corruption no matter how you slice it. I'll even go as far as to say this: It is up to ALL elected officials to stand up against this corruption. Dems & Repugs both need to stand up to the task of restoring pride, dignity and RESPECT to the the USA. How can we be a superpower when we can't even govern ourselves legally, morally and ethically?? We need our party to stand as one, act as one and BECOME one! Democrats unite!

dammit man! :banghead: <--- lets not be like this!!
