Prez's ex-chef denies any shellfish motives (* hates scallops)

President Bush hates scallops, but former White House chef Walter Scheib says the humble mollusks shouldn't be blamed for his ouster from the First Family's kitchen.

Scheib has tried to hold his tongue since he was fired in August - reportedly at the behest of Laura Bush. But last week, he grew angry when an unnamed East Wing official told The Wall Street Journal he was booted for displaying "a level of arrogance … in preparing dishes the Bush family detested - scallops in particular, which kept appearing on menus despite repeated complaints."

Scheib now tells us: "There was never any request to take scallops off the menu. If there had ever been any request like that, I can assure you there never would have been a scallop in the building."

<snip>

Though we hear Scheib has confided to friends that the White House's previous occupants had more sophisticated palates, he insists that he has no quarrel with Dubya's constant hankerin' for Tex-Mex.

Damn, now I'm hungry for scallops in some nice garlic butter.

2. Poor man. How horrible to have to work for such an awful man.
Bu$h* hardly ever has parties and has hosted only a handful of state visits.

I love scallops. I love them suteed in butter. Mmm. I only eat them when I'm at the ocean and can get them fresh!

7. Remember the hissy fit Daddy threw over broccoli?
The growers association was sending a truckload to the White House, and he exploded, saying "I've never liked broccoli! I hate broccoli, and I'm President and I don't have to eat brocolli"!

Kinda makes you think the Quaker Oats Guy wouldn't let him leave the table until he finished his broccoli.
:rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

3. I fear for the scallop fishery if it gets out that Bush doesn't like them.
everyone will be eating scallops and sending boxes of scallops to the White House just to annoy the chimpmeister.

14. I'm spoiled
my brother-in-law knows a scallop fisherman and during sason he supplies us with all we can eat. They are good when they are fresh but if they sit too long, they get nasty. Probably reminded Fearless Leader of some bar-fly he picked up in his youth.

10. No wonder. "Scallops" are shell-fish...and that's close to "SELFISH"...
something he clearly has a high-level of. No wonder he dislikes, is allergic to them.
