House GOP backing away from The Bug Man (Delay)
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&u=/nm/20060105/pl_nm/congress_delay_dc_1

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Rep. Tom DeLay's bid to return as majority leader of the House of Representatives was in mounting jeopardy on Thursday as fellow Republicans feared his ties with convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff have made the Texan too much of an election-year liability.

"I would not support him for majority leader," Rep. Ray LaHood (news, bio, voting record) told Reuters in a telephone interview from his central Illinois district.

Sucks being you, don't it Tommy?

1. But Bush has declared Tommy is innocent.

and he doesn't stop his vacations if 230 thousand people die in a tsunami, but he does if one brain dead woman is getting her food tube pulled.

Pathetic POS.

6. With due respect, no I am not mistaken.
Bush declared Tommy's innocence in a recent TV interview with the outstanding reporter in Brit Hume. He further told Hume that Tommy was good man and got his bills passed. Apparently this is somehow further evidence of Tommy's innocence and testiment to his character.

7. Wait until February...
when Bush declares, "I didn't know him that well." just like Kenneth Lay (whom he had a VERY close relationship and there are pictures and speeches documenting it) or Jack Abramoff (who worked closely with his staff from 1997 on).

I guess successfully butt kissing and destroying your rivals at any cost is a real sign of great "integrity".

I personally wouldn't want a failed student/pilot/businessman/president to vouch for me.

2. You'd think DeLay would have learned something ...
... from his previous profession.

There's always one big, fat, brazen cockroach who crawls all over your kitchen counter in the middle of the night. But when you turn on the light, all of the other cockroaches crawl back into the walls, leaving Mr. Big Roach alone to take the super dose of RAID!

5. Wow, someone on the record, by name
That's quite unusual. Hardly a profile in courage, all things considered, but highly unusual nonetheless for a Republican to be quoted by name saying he wouldn't support DeLay's candidacy as Majority Leader. I'm guessing that Mr. LaHood (isn't it odd how all these Republicans have such French-sounding names?) will soon get a call that will cause him to "clarify" the remarks attributed to him in this story.
