Edited on Fri Jan-06-06 09:38 PM by Nimrod2005
The Shiites are going to FUCK the Sunnis hard for many years to come...Whether we leave now or in 2 months or 2 years. There is no other way to describe it.

A civil war is not on the verge of starting, we risk blah blah blah if we leave early, it is all bullshit, all hell broke loose already and that's a fact. The war is going on now and they all know it, from BushCheneyRummyAbiZaid all the way down, they know it, they are watching it and are unable to stop it.

I think the Generals are just laughing at the civilian leadership, trying to keep as many of their kids alive as possible.

We broke it, we won't own it, we are leaving...We really don't care what happens to whoever in Iraq.

Anyone who writes stuff analyzing this, and studying that, is just fooling themselves and YOU!!!

P.S. The only ONE person who I think understands this and see it the way I do is Murtha, all others are liars.

1. I have two Iraqi colleagues at work
At the outset one said continually, Iraq is like Yugoslavia, disparate peoples united under the iron fist of a dictator. He maintained that once the dictator is deposed the three main factions in Iraq would be embroiled in a civil war.

The other believed that the US would bring democracy to the people, and he points to the elections of proof of that democracy. I remind him that democracy is yet not achieved when there is a vote, but only once the losers of an election realize that it is more appropriate to meet the results in peace and not with the gun. Even he admits that in that context, Iraq apparently has a long way to go.

I personally find it difficult to identify any democratic societies that were not first tested in civil war.

2. True for countries when they themselves chose Democracy, here
We have the US, a foreign occupying country who brought the idea forward. The group that is not aligned with them will always think and say that you want Democracy because you were bought and paid for by them, the foreign armies, you took their side...etc.

Iraq is not about 2 groups from one country who fought over their own ideas...

4. The amount of 'foreign' interference...
makes it impossible for me to apply any logic to Iraq and Iraqi's. Riverbend gives a birds-eye view of an Iraqi's life...and that life seems very far removed from the international goals bearing pressure on any 'Iraqi Government'.

6. Oh geez.... will we have to arm one side against the other again... I
hope it doesn't come to that... really I do.... then again, what's good for the military industrial complex is good for the repugs... and probably a few dems as well... sad to say.

turmoil suits our purposes. People fighting each other cannot mount a threat against their neighbors e.g. Israel. People fighting each other cannot get together to
fight a divisive government that feeds the division. People fighting each other cannot
see their common bonds
see the real enemy
enjoy the strength of numbers
enjoy the fruits of their industry instead of having them given to the few.
People fighting each other cannot stop a fascist president.
