It might be wishfull thinking on my part but I think there is
a chance he may go down without a fillibuster. There is
enough of a scary paper trail with this guy to scare
even moderate Pukes.

2. Maybe, if he openly endorses torture and spying on citizens
I doubt he will admit to that, but its up to our guys to put the heat to him and try to get him to crack.

3. He's not that bad.
Bush di on OK job selecting him. As a centrist moderate I kinda like him. I'm also expecting him to prove himself as a male S O'Connor. He may be a lot more centrist than W "thinks."

Perhaps you haven't delved closely enough into his record or you don't give a damn about privacy, believe women and blacks should be treated as property, and believe in an imperial Presidency rather than the separation of powers as set forth in the constitution. Not to mention, as acceptable, strip searching a 10 year old without a warrant when the subject of a drug search is not in the home. Maybe you believe that corporations should have the same, neah superior rights to the individual and that corporate decisions that harm the individual should have no recourse nor consequences? Maybe you aren't concerned about a man who has demonstrated that he will lie to congress and do the opposite of what he proclaimed? No, he's not that bad. He's worse!

4. Depends on how successful our side is
in alerting people (and senators, too) to the fact that this creep has condoned (a) strip-searching a ten year old girl and (b) butt-raping a mentally retarded man with a broom handle. :puke:

That should be enough, if we can get the word out. And the frame is easy: "If you support Alito, you support forced sodomy and child abuse."

8. I hope I'm right, but I kind of think the Dems have something up their
sleeve that will facilitate an 'up and down' rejection of Alito. Color me optimistic (and please don't remind me if I turn out to be wrong).
