I did attend the rescheduled Evening with Tim Johnson a few hours ago. I even got to speak with him for about a minute. This was, I think, the 4th time in 20 years that I've talked with him, and, except for the first, the longest.
I tried to use the minute to encourage him to be a little bit more willing to stand up to the Bush Administration.
I got the impression that it may or may not have helped a little bit. I also got the impression that he too, lives in a little bit of a bubble, that his position tends to isolate him, and that he needs more such contacts with constituents to encourage him to simply take a stand. Perhaps that is something that many of our representatives have in common.
Don't get me wrong, Johnson has been much to timid for my tastes--but he is a Democrat. I figured a little encouragement couldn't hurt.
