Democrats urge Iraqi leaders to cooperate
Warn: Shape up, or US will ship out

A delegation of congressional Democrats that included rising star Senator Barack Obama of Illinois had a blunt assessment yesterday for Iraq's political leaders: Shape up, or America will ship out.

The continued US commitment to Iraq is becoming a tougher sell back home, the four lawmakers said, and unless Iraqis can start showing visible signs of progress by creating a broad-based government and security forces inclusive of all of Iraq's ethnic and sectarian groups, Americans will lose patience, they said.

''It's going to be hard to convince American taxpayers to pour water into a leaky bucket," said Obama.

Obama, Senators Christopher S. ''Kit" Bond and Evan Bayh of Indiana, and Representative Harold E. Ford Jr. of Tennessee arrived in Iraq yesterday on a trip that included meetings with American intelligence and reconstruction specialists and Iraqi election officials in the capital's fortified Green Zone, as well as visits today to troops in outlying provinces.

''We are not here to participate in something that is dominated by one particular party or one particular sect," said Bond, known as a strong backer of the US military.

I'm calling them the Empire's Democrat Jesters

and putting Obama, Bond, Bahy, and Ford on my 'batshit insane' list.

1. Yeah, I'm sure it will break their hearts to see us go.
Obama has been such a disappointment.

3. You think so?
I think Obama is probably the best thing the dems have produced in years. He's still really green but I believe he is the future of the party.

4. Wait. We'll punish them by leaving?
Great meme! That way we'll look like we're in control and they aren't mature enough to handle us. LOL!

5. That is perhaps...
.... the best example of Republican-style spin I've ever heard. Too bad I have a hard time thinking it was intended as such.

7. While I would like to see our troops home...
I don't get how it is the Iraqi's job to clean up this mess. It's not like they started it. I am not understanding Obama's line of thinking. Aren't the Iraqi's fighting the occupation... which is us?

8. This Is A Useful Political Step, Ma'am
It lays the groundwork for moderate and centerist oriented calls for withdrawl timed to the up-coming Congressional election. The key is Sen. Bond's statement "We are not here to participate in something that is dominated by one particular party or one particular sect." One of the lines of attack on this subject that leaves the present regime most vulnerable with the people of our country is "So we just invaded the place, spent trillions and lost thousands, to estanblish the Islamic Republic of Iraq? Have I got that right?"

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"
