PRESIDENT BUSH, TOM DELAY HAVE CHILLY RELATIONS - PER NEWSMAX
Those kooks at Newsmax reported on this. You can tell they loath Time Magazine and seem offended that Time labeled Delay as "the former exterminator" - what's the big deal, it was is former job.

In public, the relationship between President Bush and former GOP House majority leader Tom DeLay has been friendly, but in private it’s been downright distant.

According to this week’s Time magazine, while on the surface they have been cordial to each other, there has been a "longtime chill” between the two men.

(cut)

White House advisers allege that the men around Bush have treated DeLay as a necessary burden, noting that while he may have had an unmatched grip on the House and Washington lobbyists, DeLay is not the kind of guy — in background and temperament — the President feels comfortable with.

Time quotes a an unnamed Republican allegedly close to the President's inner circle as saying of the man Time sneeringly calls "the former exterminator” that "They have always seen him as beneath them, more blue collar. He's seen as a useful servant, not someone you would want to vacation with," the source sniffed.

1. This reminds me of the USSR under Stalin
One day a politician is a bright shining star in the party political universe, the next day persona non grata.

2. Let's Barrage DeLay With This Info -- That He's Seen As A Useful Servant..
by *. That * was just using him - and now * is distancing himself from DeLay. Let DeLay know that he was just another "fodder unit" to *. Let's hope DeLay get real pissed at being used and let's hope he takes down the whole lot of them.

7. "DeLay is not the kind of guy ...the President feels comfortable with."
And so the spin and distancing begins. "I did not have interpersonal relations with that man, Mr. DeLay."

11. Spin, spin, spin
This should be the REAL headline:

"Bush Regime Throws Loyal Water-Carrier Under The Bus."

"We don't need that middle-class twerp anymore", says President George W. Bush. "If Delay thought that we would stick with him after the first sign of trouble, he must be swilling the 'ol bourbon again. After all, we're just distancing ourselves from him, I mean, it's not like I disappeared him like Dick wanted me to."

13. Upper crust snob
Edited on Mon Jan-09-06 07:09 PM by peaches2003
Never forget that Bush is an Upper Crust New England Brahmin Andover/private school snob. He is not 'a man of the people'. The whole Texas aura he puts on does not mean he is going to socialize with the more common blue collar Texan. He is a corporate, country club, only hobnob with the CEO's kind of guy.

Plus everything you read about him he is cold and distant with anyone other than his very close circle of people like him. Sure he was Mr. Drunk-Fraternity President in college, but don't forget he wasn't mixing with the sons of TX exterminators at Andover and Yale. He was with his kind of people.

15. I agree.
It's one reason the "he'd be a great guy to have a beer with" meme has always driven me wild.

16. Voters who think he would
Sadly, it is just the voters who support him because they think he would be a great guy to have a beer with that are exactly the people he wouldn't spend 5 minutes with, having a beer or not.
