Mehlman A Day Late And A Dollar Short On Reform

Washington, DC - Today, Republican National Committee Chairman Ken
Mehlman finally embraced honesty and ethics in government, but only
after Republican mega-lobbyist Jack Abramoff admitted to committing
three federal crimes and Rep. Tom DeLay relinquished his leadership post
ahead of his trial on money laundering charges.
Democratic National Committee Communications Director Karen Finney
issued the following statement:

"I'm glad that Ken Mehlman has finally joined Democrats in calling
for reform. Democrats absolutely intend to change the way business is
done in Washington, and will start by ending the Republican culture of
corruption, cronyism and incompetence and electing Democrats in
2006."

DNC Chairman Howard Dean In September 2005
"As if to illustrate the point, Democratic National Chairman Howard
Dean issued a sharply worded attack on what he termed the Republican
'culture of corruption' and called for a change in the way
Washington does business."

RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman In January 2006 After Abramoff Is Indicted And
DeLay Steps Down Mehlman: "First, the issue is, I think we need to reform how
Washington does business."
