Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron Headlines DNC Podcast
On Day Two of Committee Hearings, Raises Concerns Over Judge Samuel
Alito

Washington, DC - During the Democratic National Committee's Podcast,
Nan Aron, President of the Alliance for Justice, answered questions
regarding Judge Samuel Alito's nomination to the Supreme Court. The
DNC's Podcast, a brief audio broadcast that listeners can download for
play on portable music devices or on computers, gives listeners a chance
to regularly hear from party leaders, newsmakers, strategists, policy
makers, and the grassroots of the Democratic Party.
On the second day of Senate Judiciary Committee hearings, Aron raises
questions about Alito's failure to recuse himself from a major Vanguard
Mutual funds case and his involvement with a case that approved the
strip search of a ten-year-old child, questioning Alito's credibility.
She also explains how Alito's confirmation will impact domestic spying
and surveillance.
"Given these extraordinary times where we've got a president who has
authorized illegal wiretaps, the American people have a right to know
where he stands on the very important issue of
expanding government powers," said Aron in her interview. "It is a
tremendous concern of ours because it doesn't just cover domestic spying
and eavesdropping, but it also applies to his views on the right to
privacy."
Listeners are also directed to the DNC website to download the DNC's
latest web video. Released as President Bush and Vice President Cheney
continue to defend their domestic spying program and their abuse of
executive power, the video, titled "Bush and Nixon," reminds Americans
of the abuses of power that can result from an above-the-law mentality.
