"If you've done nothing wrong"
then why fear wire taps? I finally heard that statement from a real live lemming. Swallowing the company line and repeating it as instructed. I carry a copy of the constitution (in book form) in my truck. I retrieved it and asked the dumbass selfish moronic citizen of our country to show me in the constitution where it states "if you've done nothing wrong." Stutter, stammer, disappear. I suspect the stock market broke 11K because there has been a rush on ignorance futures.

1. If Bush wasn't doing anything wrong, why didn't he get a warrant?

14. It's especially damning when there's a 72 hour grace period to get a
warrant after the fact. They have no, "we needed a wiretap because time was of the essence".

12. Know what I find curious BOSSHOG? That us vets seemed to get
a little more cranked up about this subject.

I think it's because when one has actually fought for a principle or right one tends to defend that turf a little more vigorously.

I do not intend to belittle the intentions and outrage of non-vets, just something I feel.

One of the reasons we served is so that others would not have to and I am extremely proud of that. As you state, I'm cranked about this subject. I've been retired for three years but I still consider myself under oath and I have that oath of reenlistment on a coin on my "I love me" bookcase just a few feet away. Don't fuck with my constitution is the bottom line.

There are so many in this country who love the constitution and who did not have to serve because we did and that is a beautiful thing.

6. Misquided - Can't happen to them
I live in rural W Texas and I bet my phone conversations were intercepted at least once. My daughter was planning to move to London Sept 2005. Her roommate-to-be called us the morning of the London bombings in July to let us know everything was okay. Do you think this was listened to? People need to realize just how wide a net it is to "screen only international calls". I can't wait to tell my husband's RWing buddies that their calls to our house might have been screened. During the Clinton years, some of these guys wouldn't carry their driver's license in their wallets because they heard they were chipped.

18. Good point.
I live in Yorkshire about 15 miles from Leeds, where some of the July 7 bombers lived. On that day I had repeated calls from my family in Georgia and all the calls either had weird noises on them or were cut off altogether in mid-conversation.

Not far away in another direction from where I live is the NSA listening base at Menwith Hill, North Yorkshire, UK (Google it, it'll give you stuff that'll keep you awake at night). People have been telling me for years that my phone conversations are being listened to, not because I'm up to anything sinister, but just because they listen to everybody.

8. And why is limpballs not allowing the courts to "spy"
on his medical records if he didn't Doctor Shop?

11. If he's done nothing wrong????
Trying to think like a conservative may lead to brain damage. And, doing more conservative thinking, if limpballs is innocent of anything he is accused of, what better way to prove that then to do the conservative thing and surrender his privacy. Oh what a nasty cess pool they reside in.

9. I wonder, if these people obey all the traffic laws, would they
appreciate the police trailing them every time they leave their driveway. Maybe they wouldn't mind if every stop they made was monitored for length of stay, who was spoken too, etc. Maybe they are so patriotic that they wouldn't mind if the government bugged their home and set up surveillance cameras to see who came to visit them. Shoot, let's just open their mail, too, and pay a visit to their doctor, lawyer and accountant without their knowledge. I mean, if you've nothing to hide . . . .

13. You go Granny
Actually as we all know, conservatives have closets full of nothing to hide. They'd scream the loudest about "privacy" exposing tons more hypocrisy. I think you are on to something. Tail em all, survey em all, hell they have nothing to hide.

16. Just ask 'em if they will mind when Pres Hillary
Clinton wants to spy on their phone calls. That should freak 'em out. Worked on at least one idiot I know. Also do what I did at Thanksgiving - suggest that maybe all the NSA would have to do to locate and maybe confiscate a lot of firearms in the US would be to get hold of the NRA membership list and do they trust the NRA not to turn it over.

17. I'm telling you...
.... our education system is so lousy that most people who've come through it in the last 20-30 years are completely ignorant of the reasons the founding fathers wrote these protections into the constitution.

The idea of a government that abuses its power never occurs to these morons because they've never lived in a monarchy and because the were never taught even the basics of what America is all about.

19. If you haven't done anything wrong, why do they need to wiretap you?
The burden to justify bypassing the Constitution rests with the government - THAT'S WHY THEY NEED TO GET A WARRANT!!
