If Hillary Clinton or Teresa Heinz Kerry had CRIED, would the MSM
be asking if Republicans had "gone too far"? Would Republicans be wracked with self-doubt? Would ANY of them offer any kind of apology?

Or would Limbaugh, Hannity, and their minions be cackling with glee, and mocking the pain and the public spectacle of an adult crying in public?

This is a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court. These are 9 very powerful people. We don't want the wrong person put on the court.

7. H*ll, look how the lamestream media took and ran with the 'Dean Scream'
and crucified Dean for it! (and Dean did that just to rouse enthusiasm from his audience, as I recall - nothing negative in it at all).

There's a "different measure" for Dems and Repubs, that's for d*mn sure....justice is standing with 'uneven scales in her hand these days'

11. Yes but Dean came across like a lunatic with that performance
I'm sorry, but he did. I bet many people when they saw how Dean couldn't even handle losing Iowa, after he'd lost New Hampshire...I bet a lot of people questioned how he might of been able to handle a huge crisis or an international situation...when he couldn't even handle not winning Iowa.

21. No he didn't (come off as a lunatic).....
...that's what the media TOLD everyone to believe (and obviously you did as you were told ~ good boy).

Dean handled himself in a very gracious and GENUINE manner.

I trust and like people who are genuine. I like Howard Dean :-)

24. No, he didn't come across like a lunatic at all...
that's just your perception. In reality, he was speaking to a very noisy, large crowd and wanted to pump up all the people who were supporting him. Everybody was yelling and screaming and Dean wanted to be heard so he screamed.

His yelling had nothing to do with losing Iowa and more to do with keeping everybody's hopes alive.

35. yeah, we know that NOW...but at the time....my son, a Dean supporter
at his IA caucus was very upset by the scream when he saw it on TV at the end of the tabulation reports

IMO, this shows the incredible power of the RW media machine....someone who really believed in Dean's message was manipulated by the media to question Dean and his own political convictions........the RW media destroys dem candidates and dems' confidence in themselves

8. Teresa and Hillary
are sharp and have brains and would never need to be coached to "cry on cue" by a weasel like Lindsey Graham.

But the media would have pilloried them had they been Ms. Alito today, no doubt.

their treatment of her was unconscionable. In the face of filthy personal attacks she maintained her dignity and humanity. She paid the price with her health, though. SG

23. Not exactly...
but it's a known fact that stress weakens your resistance to disease and makes you more susceptible to certain illnesses if you have the gene for it.

It's really pretty complicated, however, one day doctors will be able to isolate defective genes and remove them to prevent all kinds of diseases.

34. There was even nastiness after her diagnosis.
Remember the vicious online messages after it was announced that Elizabeth Edwards had been diagnosed with breast cancer? I saw some of the postings on forums at websites like Netscape and the like.

The sad thing is that the media encourages the viciousness in the name of ratings, and there's a fair bit of misogyny mixed in. When Roseanne did that screeching version of the national anthem, the tabloids ran covers titled "THE MOST HATED WOMAN IN AMERICA." Someone like Limbaugh can spew hate for decades on end and never get pilloried in the press. It's a sick situation.

14. It is all just too revoltingly disingenuous for me.
The touching scene of the devoted wife leaving in tears because her stand-up husband is being grilled....the gruff, righteous anger of the MSM and the Repuke Senators...it is all just a little too staged for me.

They are so GOOD at this, it is scary. You don't hear the reporters talking about WHY the tough questions were being asked...just that they offended the delicate sensibilities of the wife of a career DC player. Right.

18. Hillary and Teresa are certainly better looking...
It's a good point about how the MSM would have treated this whole thing differently...if Chelsea Clinton had cried, it would be a frickin' poster on every Repug's wall...if Hillary even showed the slightest emotion, she'd be pilloried. If Teresa had cried on Election Eve, again, it would be the big joke with the Freepers...

I would be equally sad if either Hillary or Teresa got to a point where they had to cry on TV,,,you know it would have been unfair and tasteless as to what would have made them get that emotional.

Alito's wife crying looked like she was getting antsy about the possibility that her husband's past was being exposed.

26. Mrs. Kerry did what Democratic women do
When confronted with a smarmy little shit of a right-wing shill reporter, she told him off, in spades. She got done dressing him down for his dishonest reporting, then went back and as a coda told him to "shove it."

Remember how that episode played out?

And MSM called Teresa a "loose canon."

Please...crying on cue, and stomping from the room when your Judge/Husband's document production is being pursued...is the REAL loose canon behavior.

I'd take tough Teresa any day! She's my TRUE First Lady of choice...even yet!

30. They would have been stomped on
They would be referred to as weak women with no substance or guts, and it would be made a point that if they were too frail to handle it, they should have not been in the room.

Of course neither Teresa or Hillary would have been driven to tears. I never saw Hillary on tv bawling her eyes out during the whole Lewinsky affair.

31. Yeah, sure...
because in our society, it is taboo to make the girl cry. It makes you look mean. Moreover, if it bleeds (or cries), it leads.

As far as Hannity & Limbaugh go--they would surely come up some of the most ridiculous excuses that you could possibly imagine.
