2. Clark, Feingold, or Edwards would all be okay with me.
Most of the others leave me cold. One or two won't get my vote - period.

Wasn't he the first swiftboated? The whole line of crap about how he dressed for the woman's vote in 2000?

I voted for Gore, because I think right now he's got the best chance of winning, since it already won once.

10. Difficult choice between Clark & Feingold
As much as I like Edwards and his grasp of the financial and social indignities rampant in the US, he still comes across as a lightweight-very good at what he does but for president, I am uninspired.

Clinton-only as a last resort

Gore has found his voice but, remembering his waffling and running away from issues, forgetting about the lies and fraud defining the r/w, I'm still not confident of his ability, even with a democratic congress.

I am a bit worried about Feingold marital peccadilloes; regardless of his responsibility in the handling thereof, a great number of uninformed people (read utterly clueless, opinionated assholes) condemn everyone without even checking the facts and would rather hug unsubstantiated gossip to their breasts than letting a little light in.

Unfortunately, even though Kerry is a brave, intelligent and certainly thoughtful man, the very regalness of his bearing (which makes him a compelling leader) turns off so many, firmly ensconced in their own niches.

Unfortunately, it's like the media. Want a reaction? Gotta have a catchy headline.

Had you posted "Screw those choices! I WANT DEAN!" you'd have had no shortage of replies.

27. Wes Clark
For the sake of the US -- and the rest of the world.

For intelligent foreign policy, educated and fair economic policy and so there's someone in the White House who knows what it's like to earn everything on merit.

Oh, and the fact he isn't tainted by years of political wheeling and dealing suits me just fine.

39. It's gotta be Gore!
Gore is keeping his options open.

He has not said anything that would rule out the possibility of running again.

Usually when you see that in a headline - it's not a direct quote from Al Gore.

He is in a different position from the other people on that list. He already ran (and more importantly - won, and would already be President were it not for all kinds of problems with the way votes were counted in Florida - I'm talkin' about electoral fraud, together with one highly partisan ruling by the right-leaning US Supreme Court).

He cannot afford to enter the primaries somewhere down the field. He can only come forward if it is clear that the American people (and registered Democrats) really want him to stand.

Kerry is in a similar position, but Gore would be the better President - in my view.

So the best thing we can do is prepare the ground, spread the word, and make it as easy as possible for Gore to stand up - when the time is right (but not now - it's way too soon!).

38. I've never had a top pick,
but most of those who interest me don't appear in the poll.

Without ranking them, those on my "list" include:

Boxer, Feingold, Kucinich, McKinney, Conyers, and a couple of others. I could rank them by preference, but I'd rather wait and see if any will run.

40. I know its tilting at windmills, but...
For outright brains, integrity and policies, Dennis Kucinich is my choice. Not that he would stand a chance in hell of winning, but I have to vote my conscience. For a reality vote, I'd probably go with Clark, though.

42. Voted Clark but I like Warner too.
You know, I felt like I voted my conscience in 2000 when I voted for Nader, but my conscience wasn't clear once I realized that I had not necessarily caused but helped a Bush win. I don't think there is anything wrong with being more conscientious with your vote, but i don't think there is anything wrong with being strategic either.

44. Share his web site with people you know, lots of good stuff
available there, it has been totally revamped. It includes records of his travels around the country supporting Democrats, transcripts , audio files, video files, position papers, blogs, alerts about when he will be on TV or appearing somewhere, and much more. Also areas for active organizing. Here is the link:
http://securingamerica.com/

The media maintains a relative black out on Clark. When he was polling at 5 to 6% in all other national 2008 preference polls (trailing only Clinton, Kerry, Edwards (and sometimes Gore) but ahead of Biden, Warner, Bayh, Richardson, Vilsak, Feingold etc. etc., Gallop skipped his name completely on their latest poll. When there is coverage about 2008 and Clark isn't mentioned, his supporters have to write letters to the media that keep leaving his name out. We have to stay active at the grassroots level to prevent having traditional power brokers determine for us who our candidates can be.
