Wake the phuck up America!!!
Can you imagine us in America electing even a dog catcher, who is a woman? a single mother? and or god forbid an agnostic? of course not. I am confused as to how I feel about it:

Either this is a good sign for all of humanity or it is a sign that America and our beacon of Democracy bullshit politician talk is going into the shitter of humanity under the Bush administration.

Ex-political prisoner elected Chile's first female president

Monday, January 16, 2006; Posted: 1:15 p.m. EST (18:15 GMT)

Michelle Bachelet, the Socialist presidential candidate, votes Sunday.

SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) -- President-elect Michelle Bachelet, who was imprisoned and tortured under the right-wing dictatorship of Gen. Augusto Pinochet, was praised Monday as a symbol of reconciliation who can help Chile come to terms with its traumatic political past.

Bachelet, the first woman to be elected president in the conservative Catholic country, won 53 percent of the vote in Sunday's runoff, compared with 46 percent for right-leaning businessman Sebastian Pinera, according to official results.

Bachelet, a socialist doctor and a single mother, promised tolerance in her victory speech late Sunday.

"Because I was the victim of hatred, I have dedicated my life to reverse that hatred and turn it into understanding, tolerance and -- why not say it -- into love," said Bachelet, whose father, an air force officer who opposed Pinochet, died in prison.

3. No, the 900 pound gorilla is the US south
That's what happens when rich "conservatives" start screwing over the people. They didn't respect the Iraqi resistance and they aren't prepared for what will happen when those poor red states go Marxist, which is the viewpoint that best approximates the southern US perspective. Arkansas had the greatest concentration of Socialists of any state in the US at one time. When the youth of Dixie get wind of all this, there will be no putting down the response. And they have no innate trust/obedience to the central US government.

The fact of the matter is we free market, free enterprise liberals protect our system. Once the big boys destroy us and embrace the extreme right, they throw open the door to the uprising of the other extreme. They're all dumb, arrogant, rich white people with no sense of history or the way real systems work.
