1. Are you really surprised?
These people are falling all over each other to do the best they can to spin the words of someone who won the popular vote by a huge margin back in 2000. Rest assured, they're doing more to derail their own agenda than any of their opponents could have hoped.

2. However . . .
If they're putting McClellan up there to debunk Gore, don't you think that actually puts the spotlight back on Al (and Hill -- did Scottie-dog discuss Hill's Gingrich-inspired "plantation" remark?)

I think this is a clubfooted move by the WH. They could have just had Cheney say something snarky and left it at that. Now they've engaged in a debate between the faux president and the real president. I'm just waiting for Schimpanski to try to say something about this that could compare with Gore's eloquence and passion.

Actually I'm waiting for the chimp to stick his foot in his mouth again.

4. Cheney already said something snarky.
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 02:32 PM by louis-t
He said spying on American citizens has saved "thousands of lives." What an ass.

edit: (To finish my thought) Yet this morning in my local paper, there was an article (on page 4, which will generate a complaint e-mail from me) which said the FBI says very little usable intel has been gained and that the majority of info they got, they already knew about anyway. I'll see if I can find a link.

5. I can just imagine the Orc blood . . .

Dribbling over his lips as he said it.

On edit: I just began seeing references to the uselessness of the intel developed by Chimpie's "Warrantgate" program starting last night on Larry King (of all places). Plus the implication that if it was useless for antiterrorism purposes, what WAS it useful for -- such as spying on one's political opponents, perhaps?

In any case, this one seems to be picking up some steam.

6. And they covered the swiftlies more than Kerry's defense to the swiftlies
so this is STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE against Dems who dare to challenge BushInc.

Gore is certainly used to it by now.

8. GE controls NBC/MSNBC
Tax breaks help lift GE profits by 18%
By Dan Roberts in New York
Published: January 21 2005 12:50 | Last updated: January 21 2005 19:01

general electricGeneral Electric, the world's biggest company by market value, reported an 18 per cent jump in net earnings on Friday thanks, in part, to a sharp fall in its expected tax bill.

A series of legal changes and court victories has left GE with one of the lowest tax rates in corporate America.
news.ft.com/cms/s/04b24e64-6baa-11d9-94dc-00000e2511c8.html

GE's profits rose 3% to $3.9 billion, while sales jumped 11% to $37 billion - its biggest sales gain in nearly four years.

The results beat analysts' estimates and sent the stock up 47 cents to close yesterday at $32.17.

In a clear sign the economy is on the mend, nearly all of GE's businesses, from health care, to finance to industrial sales, posted double digit profit gains.

The company, because of the breadth of its operations and the number of industries where it is a leading player, is considered to be the best single proxy for the American economy. GE said it expects to achieve earnings growth of 10% to 15% next year.

One of the biggest GE winners in the quarter was its transportation division, with profits up 18% as demand grew for jet engines, spare engine parts, and locomotives.
