For all you Kaine SOTU rebuttal supporters (Kaine vs Murtha)...
A. Huffington puts it just right....

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/dems-pick-kaine-for-state_b_14112.html

and even adds this about Kaine's comments towards Iraq....

Don't ask me why, but I actually watched Kaine's inaugural address on C-SPAN, and I was stunned to hear him dare compare the cause of Virginians like Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson to our cause in Iraq: "They stood here at a time, just as today, when Virginians serving freedom's cause sacrificed their lives so that democracy could prevail over tyranny."

And this..

And during Kaine's run for Governor, he adopted another Bush talking point -- that it would send "a horrible message" to "cut and run" in Iraq. Could that be any further from Murtha's message that Iraq has become a civil war -- a civil war being inflamed by our continuing presence?

So, let's all just stand by as we watch the Dems blow another opportunity......

1. Kaine is my choice.....
His Campaign was run dynamically. He has sent the example for 06 Candidates across the nation and his presence giving the SOTU Rebuttal will bring attention to his successes.

5. That is not true...
Kaine far exceeded expectations, and took the state by a wider margin than Warner. I agree Kilgore was a subpar candidate, but in Virginia being a subpar Republican is not a bar to victory (see Allen).

Kaine ran a very disciplined effective campaign, deftly turning issues such as the Death penalty and immigrant issues back on Kilgore. Kaine is a very articulate person, and a better debater than Warner. Give the guy some credit. He is an anti-death penalty catholic Democrat, overwhelmingly elected in a red state.

6. Yes, he definately WON Va......
I believe that in Chester County, he was only short 3,000 votes which is a miracle in itself. Chester County is pure RED. No other Democrat has ever been less than 7,000 votes short!

Make no mistake...Kaine WON!

3. Being groomed?
Putting Kaine in the spot-lite for 2008? What about Hillary? Murtha was my choice for sticking the Liberal finger in republican eye.

4. Missed another opportunity?
I think you mean "have completely ceased to draw any distinction between themselves and the GOP". The repukes keep drawing contrasts; we keep trying to blur the line.

7. Have finally figured out what it is about Murtha....
When he is on, he reminds people of a well respected piss off grandfather. That is what we need - a real man to spank a true "girlie-man".......
