Moderate Republicans came out of the closet to support Molly Ivins today..
I was stunned at the number of people calling on the Republican line who admitted reading her column...who admitted the hushed up rift in the Republican party...

I have long believed that we need to keep the lines of communication open with our Moderate Republican friends, family members and neighbors. They're out there..They're begging for the same changes we are.

2. The WMD and Health Care is a personal responsibility woman?
Didn't Molly handle that great? Save the fetus so then we can punish it.

5. She made the comment that she's known him since high school...that
it isn't the man she hates. That's he's just a horrible, Horrible president. I try hard to look at it that way, but I must admit, I cannot stand the smugness of the man.

13. And I Lived There At The Same Time!
I've been a Molly Ivins fan for a long long long time and was aware of her way back when.

Of course I wasn't in the Bush circle, but we ARE the same age and I grew up about 40 miles from Crawford, TX! I only go back to the state for my class reunions and to visit a sister who lives there. Otherwise, it only reminds me of The Idiot himself!!

And he IS a HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE president! And the impeachment thing is not an option... not unless you get them ALL!!

Then of course, considering how THEY operate... as with EVERYTHING else these days, the Repukes will just turn it into something AGAINST anyone AGAINST them! Haven't we seen enough of this already!

3. Right
I don't like when people want to write off all republicans because they voted for Bush both times or once. People do change and find out new information or something like that. If you want people to be open-minded about voting democratic you can't write them off. My grandmother on my dad's side voted for Bush both times but now for whatever reason she doesn't trust Bush and is even doubting whether or not he was a real Christian or not. So I shouldn't write her off but try to talk to her about voting democratic this term.

11. Me either. The "bus dad" at my son's school is a Christian first,
Republican second..in his words. He's quite upset and in a dither on what to do come the next cycle. Now is the time for us to get cracking. :hi:

9. Most of them admitted to reading it daily. A lot of them agreed with
her assessment of Sen. Clinton...A Lot of them are waiting for the right candidate out of either party.

16. Oh THAT column. OK
I agree with her, in principle, on Hillary, but I think the more salient point is that Hillary can't flip any red states in a general election.

But, yes, the triangulation bothers me a great deal, too; however, I'd rather have Hillary in the Senate over Rudy or any other Republican. I just don't think she'd win a national election.

10. I am so glad that they called in
They are now part of the loyal opposition.

There are those Republicans that realize a radical fringe element of the right-wing has control of their party, and is heading them down a path of destruction.

This is why I have hope. There are people of good faith of both parties that will not allow our Democracy to be destroyed by those that would turn our country into a fascist theocracy.

The so-called "silent majority" is starting to wake up to the excesses of the current criminal administration. Most Americans despise extremism of any stripe, and will eventually reject those that use it to govern.

15. Molly is a populist.
Molly focuses on those issues that unite the people of this country, e.g., jobs, healthcare, retirement security, the environment, consumer protection issues, corruption, the debt/deficit.

She DOESN'T deride people for their religious beliefs.
She DOESN'T bash people based on the state they live in.
She DOESN'T start with the premise that Americans are stupid and evil thereby deserving of shitty leadership and personal misfortune.

Surprise, surprise! Most people, regardless of party affiliation, respond positively.

17. I'm married to an old-fashioned moderate Republican and he is
as outraged by this administration as I am.

He knows the Republican Party has been hijacked by right-wing radicals.
