last night.
When asked the question "Do you think it is okay for the president to wiretap American citizens without a warrant?" one of the kids said "no, I do not think it is right."
Being only twelve, the kid didn't really have anything else to add but I had to endure a Rethuglican idiot behind me for the rest of the evening saying "I don't think it's right for them to fly airplanes into buildings either, do you?"
I wanted to turn around and beat the guy about the head, but instead I turned to my daughter and loudly whispered into her ear "Careful there's a RETHUGLICAN behind us!" He obviously heard me, as did several other people around me because he only got louder and more adamant after that and had a hard time looking at me after the event was over. Everyone else clapped rather loudly after the kid gave his answer. I don't know if it was to drown out the idiot or not but it was clear that they agreed with the kid.
This was supposed to be just a review of a unit on how our government works and this guy had to interject his political beliefs all over it. I felt sorry for the kids and the parents who had to listen to this guy spew crap.
I have to admit, I was expecting something of this nature given the fact I live in a fairly Red state so I prepared myself before hand by listening to Bill Mauer on a pod cast while waiting for the event to begin but it wasn't loud enough for anyone else to hear!
