Hamas Victory Shows Failure Of Bush Strategy In Region
January 28 2006

Standing in a sunny Rose Garden on June 24, 2002, surrounded by his top foreign policy advisers, President Bush issued a clarion call for resolving the deadly Israeli-Palestinian conflict: "I call on the Palestinian people to elect new leaders, leaders not compromised by terror."

When Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon warned in September that he would try to block Hamas's participation unless it disbanded its militia and accepted Israel's right to exist, the administration forced the Israelis to back off. "Elections are fundamental to the continued evolution and development of the Palestinian process," Rice said.

2. No kidding
"I call on the Palestinian people to elect new leaders, leaders not compromised by terror."

I wonder if he can make the same appeal to the American Public in the SOTU Address?

3. Repugnicans Never Favored Democracy
How can a party that represents the eilte also support universal sufferage and equal rights? Virtually every Repugnican I've engaged on this desests the word democracy and will always refer to this country as a Representative Republic...with the impression that the legislature is nothing more than a grievance body for the riff raff and that the powerful must and should always control the wealth and power.

8. The West Bank will likely be the #1 refuge for International terrorists...
thanks to Bush and Co.

The freighting thing--is that any terrorist from anywhere around the world, can legally go to the West Bank, and be immune from being extradited.

I am not a lawyer, any lawyers know if this will likely be the outcome-- of the Bush plan-- to bring democracy to the Middle East?
