I suspect that after a few more years of being in the saddle with their pet Republican politicians, the Religious Right is going to find that it will have acquired some additional secular baggage that it hadn't anticipated. Right-wing Xian clerics are going to find that their churches and their beliefs are going to be increasingly associated with the corruption, the negligence, and the arrogance of the present-day Banana Republican Party. They might not see it in the pews or in the vestry, but outside their parking lots, and certainly abroad, these (people) are going to find a new anti-clericalism springing up with them as the targets.
I'm sure we'll hear the caterwauling from the religious radio stations about why the "heathens" associate their brands of Xianity with political corruption as well as scandalous neglect of public health, disregard for the environment, and the deterioration of the American educational system.
Well, this ex-Episcopalian remembers "So as ye sow, so shall ye reap" from his Sunday sit-downs.
