Craig Crawford says we should ignore Bush and maybe he'll go away
How Bush Beats Lameduckery

George W. Bush's legions of critics might want to consider a new tactic: Ignore him. Thanks to the seemingly endless argument about everything the president says or does -- much of it stoked by his own people -- he is still making news. No lame duck here, when it comes to grabbing headlines.

That is why this administration wears the target so proudly, fueling critics at every turn with combative defenses, stubborn denials and personal counterattacks serving a most useful purpose: Every day we argue about President Bush is another day when we don't stop talking about him.
For the day we no longer talk about him is the day he becomes a lame duck.

I have to disagree with him on.

Correct me if I'm missing the point, but to ignore what * and his corrupt administration are doing is basically condoning the corruption. I for one am not going to just sit and watch my country go down the toilet without a fight. We must continue to speak out against illegal wiretapping, govt. sanctioned torture, this illegal war he got us into based on lies, etc.

5. Hmmm, interesting idea, but I don't know....
There's also another thing that's pretty accepted in politics. An accusation or statement gone unanswered for 24 hours is accepted as true.

I'm going to disagree with Craig on this one too.

9. actually, this tactic, to me anyway, seems more pro Bush
than anything else.

The media bitches when the Dems are silent, and they bitch when they make noise.

Damned if they do; damned if they don't.

...TRY to ignore him.

Eleanor Clift has a great article in Newsweek:

50 Plus One: Bush is not a president interested in winning bipartisan support for anything. What that means for his State of the Union Message

He'll also be discussing the wonderful economy and all of the magnificent progress we've made in Iraq.

I don't plan to watch...not because I think that ignoring him will make him go away, just because I can't stomach that fucking SMIRK any longer.

12. Much as I like Crawford...most of America ignored him and he stole a
Presidency TWICE! Ignoring Bush allows him to do what he needs to in secret..and we'd be even closer to fascism today if folks hadn't gotten off their duff and tried to expose the lies of this Crime Family.

Crawford has a cynical sense of humor...but on this he's maybe being "off key" funny. :-(

And unquestionably the proper handicap.

Democrats seemingly have no clue that nothing we say has any impact on Bush's reputation or approval rating. He goes up and down solely based on outside events that we have no control over, like the Katrina response. That has been true since long before the 2004 election. It was runaway masochism for Kerry and organizations like MoveOn to desperately criticize Bush, and I wrote that at the time.

Opinions of the incumbent were hardly positive but locked in place. We needed an alternative message and upbeat. The Republicans court and cultivate angry and bigoted white males. So negativity not only works for them, it is essential. Our side is dependent on restoring the support of a critical percentage of thoughtful white females who are torn between national security concerns and the more traditional issues that impact their daily lives. A negative theme does nothing to regain their support. Kerry should have ignored Bush all except the three debates.

It's like a football team that tries to emulate another team's style or strategy, without being competent enough to realize the personnel and the coaching and the overall makeup of the team do not fit the opponent's blueprint, and therefore the copycat mode is 100% masochistic.

This might be a good tactic to use against internet tough guys and trolls but not someone who is wielding this much power.

How can you ignore such destruction? Bushie would love it if we would all just let him be to continue destroy the earth from the pig farm. "It's hard work keep'in the little people off my back"
