ABC News' Bob Woodruff and Cameraman Injured in Iraq
'World News Tonight' Co-Anchor and Cameraman Slammed by IED While with Iraqi Army

"World News Tonight" anchor, Bob Woodruff and his cameraman, Doug Vogt were seriously hurt in Iraq.

Jan. 29, 2006 — "World News Tonight" co-anchor Bob Woodruff and his cameraman, Doug Vogt, were seriously injured after their convoy was hit by an improvised explosive device in Taji, Iraq, today.

Woodruff and Vogt are undergoing surgery at the U.S. military hospital in Balad. Both men suffered head injuries. Woodruff sustained shrapnel wounds and Vogt was hit by shrapnel in the head and suffered a broken shoulder.

Looks like he can talk (if able) about how "wonderful" things are going in Iraq...

Edited to add hopes for a speedy recovery and the ability to tell the WHOLE truth about Iraq.

in serious condition.

3. Thank you to journalists reporting from Iraq or Afganistan
No matter what their nationality they are risking their lifes and I thank them for their efforts - otherwise people would have to take Bush's words for what is happpening there.

Best wishes for Doug and Bob and their families - I hope they recover.

5. Oops,
No wonder Bush went to church with Mommy this morning. Half of his SOTU just went out the window.

7. Why do these reporters even participate in this ILLEGAL "war"?
Anyone with an ounce of DECENCY would stay as far away from the idiot's mess as they can. Another casualty in the "Bu$h march to freedom". How many more? How many more are willing to give up their lives for this lying moron squatter in the WH? Idiots.

8. Would you prefer a news black out?
With the adminstration telling America how well it is going because there is no other word coming out of Iraq?

9. I'd prefer that to propaganda
and mindless cheerleading.

Better uninformed than misinformed and lied to.

'course, I don't know that was what Wodruff planned to do- but that's the usual fare on the so called "news" these days- and I doubt the owners and "editors" would allow anything else....

10. Honestly, I'd like a hip, charming, sarcastic, english speaking Iraqi dude
calling it like it is....from the front lines, embedded. Isn't it time? Can't be a woman -- it would be too hard in that culture.

11. That's what you get for
not reporting all of the good news from Iraq!

Seriously, I wish them a quick recovery.

12. This is not journalism
The news media is not supposed to be reporting on themselves. What now? A sanctimonious book about Woodruff's experience in Iraq?

13. You know I dont want to belittle anyone injured but why him?
I mean we got kids dying there and getting maimed and all the focus is on Woodruff?
Let's see the pain and suffering the American soldier is going thru. I do hope Woodruff makes a fast and full recovery though.
