'Baby Jessica,' Now 19, Reportedly Marries
MIDLAND, Texas - "Baby Jessica," whose dramatic rescue from an abandoned Texas well was televised across the country 18 years ago, got married in a private ceremony, People magazine reported on its Web site.

Crews struggled for 58 hours to rescue Jessica McClure after she fell into an 8-inch-wide pipe in October 1987.

The celebrity magazine reported that McClure, now 19, married Daniel Morales, 32, at a rural church outside Midland on Saturday. A sign on the door instructed guests not to take pictures or video, the magazine said.

The two met at a day-care center where Morales' sister worked with McClure, according to the magazine.

1. From what I see, Jessica runs from any publicity
I wish they'd leave her alone.

2. Right
If someone clearly wants to be left a lone they should leave them alone. One reason why I don't like the papparazi. Wheter on citizen's like this girl or any celebrity.

4. Does anyone still remember her?

And I mean that in a good way, in the sense that she is not remembered by the general public as a sensationalist news story. I was born a month after she was rescued, so technically I can say that wasn't even alive yet when this happened (fetal stage of life aside.)

14. Remember the PA miners?
It was like that, except a toddler in a well. It was really exciting and heart warming when they pulled her up, really was. Before the days of MWF distractions too. This really was a story people cared about I think.

15. I do remember the PA miners

I also remember a flashback to that story during the Sago Tragedy. I agree that even if it is sensationalism, at least it ends in a decent way. However, I don't believe that Natalie Holloway or any otherwise-local news story should get as much or more attention then say, the War in Iraq or Katrina.

16. I agree
The difference is that people get murdered and go missing every single day. Mine accidents and babies in wells aren't really your typical day's news. Although the mine accidents are quickly becoming routine, sadly.

5. That's sweet. I was rather hoping she and Timmy O'Toole would hit
it off.

13. It certainly breaks the trusty rule, "Half your age, plus 7"
By my math, she's a good 4 years too young for him.

What's odd is how pretty damn useful that rule is, but perhaps this will be the exception.

9. The week they rescued, it was the same week that Iran-Contra broke
if I'm not mistaken.
