7. I'm a bit confused
Didn't Cindy "threaten" to run against Feinstein if she didn't support the filibuster - now that Feinstein supported the filibuster Cindy is going to run against her because of the Iraq invasion? I love Cindy - but I'm not sure how I feel about her running for Senate - although I'm not a big fan of Feinstein - hmmm have to give this some thought.

14. excellent point.
As a Californian, I love Barbara, not too happy with Diane.

However, Cindy right out of the box pulled a W by changing her rationale for running against Diane, and that matters. That wobbly platform will be eviscerated by the professionals.

I wish Cindy would go back to pestering Bush outside his ranch where she commanded world attention to her cause. Her message was pure and powerful.

This is not.

15. I'm not sure why
but my gut tells me its not a good idea for Cindy to do this. I think I'm with you she can do more good on the outside - once you're in there is alot of compromising and such - I like your statement about her message being pure and powerful.

Love the Gore photo

Im not so sure its a good idea. A Senate bid is just a wee bit ambitious, unless she has qualifications Im not aware of?

I don't wish to judge her. She lost her son. But she has her own agenda in mind.

8. Or, a person in search of a cause
She really needs some help and it would be sad if many will send her money and encourage her in looking for something to keep her busy.

Is she running against Feinstein? If yes, she will lose miserably. Feinstein is an institution in California and as long as she wants to stay in the Senate the seat is hers. Even Republicans are aware of this.

And, really, what does she have to offer besides "I am Cindy Sheehan?" Yes, going to Crawford was a genius move and it worked because it was not planned. It was spontaneous. But since then she has just been seeking headlines, shooting from her mouth on topics of which she knows nothing and generating headlines leading to only one conclusion. The poor woman needs help. Or a job, or something to keep her busy.

11. Feinstein needs a new job. Perhaps as a lobbyist for her hubby.
Selling armaments to the Pentagon for more wars she can support like she did the one in Iraq.

13. Love Cindy but would vote for Feinstein in the primary.
Cindy Sheehan is a true heart, a real citizen. My hat's off to her.

But she would be buried alive in a race for the U.S. Senate by either Senator Feinstein in a primary race or by a reasonably well-funded GOP candidate in the general.

16. She is not running
She is doing what she does best. She is trying to put some pressure on the psuedo-democrats, like Feinstein, to start listening to their base and little more, and their republican critics a little less.

She started out putting pressure on Bush, but then realized at every turn that some of the democrats were on Bush's side. That kind of thing is starting to drive her nuts, so she is now trying to pressure them.

I hope it works and I support her 100%.

But stop the "I would vote for her" or " I would vote against her" analysis. We all know that senates races are driven by money, corporations, PAC's, connections, and other stuff. It is not driven by honesty. So Cindy will never be able to run or compete on that level. Its just a pressure tactic. Sort of like a protest.

Try to help her, not knock her down.

18. Why do intelligent DUers fall for right wing talking points?
Californians are sick of Dianne Feinstein! Democrats are tired of her always listening to the corporations, not the people she represents. True Republicans never liked her in the first place.

The clear majority are now against this insane illegal immoral war in Iraq. Cindy can win on that issue alone. Of course that is if the faulty elections are exposed, which is already in full force in Cali and Cindy running for senate could use that opportunity to help expose the fraud as well.

THEY want Cindy to become a 'professional protester' that never gets anywhere. Cindy doesn't seem to want the war to continue while we all just keep complaining. She wants this insanity to stop NOW. She is doing everything in her power to force the issue.

I do not understand anyone who would discourage Cindy in whatever avenue she chooses. She has done more to raise awareness on this issue than anyone else on this board.

Cindy is the real deal, a true American Patriot. She is precisely what we need in the senate. In fact we need an entire overhaul, and hopefully she will inspire more to run as well, and this is just the beginning.

20. Feinstein's approval ratings are as good or better than Boxer's
in everything that I have seen. Those sure aren't my personal feelings, but to say "Californians are sick of Dianne Feinstein" isn't true. DUers are sick of her, but DU doesn't represent your average democrat.

CA Feinstein, Dianne approval 52%
CA Boxer, Barbara approval 48%

Challenging Feinstein will be difficult even in the primaries where its more of an activist pool of voters.

19. I feel bad she lost her son and think she's done a wonderful job
as a spokesperson for the anti-war movement. I'd need to learn more about her knowledge and views of other arenas of the world before I hop on board. I'm open minded, just not a bandwagoneer.

and get some sitting RW whacko out of office. W/luck, Cindy lives in "Buck" McKeon's district. I'd love to see that nut kicked out of office.

26. i support cindy in her efforts for the loss of her son. other than that
her voice does not represent my democratic political beliefs, hwich make me woner if she is a democrat, or just willing to use democratic support as we willingly gave her during her anti war campaign. yet she used that support against our democrats in the 2004 campaign
