Wow, did anybody see 24 tonight? Powerful message about * administration

Basically, one of the chief advisors to the President, a Scooter Libby/Karl Rove type, conspired to put WMDs in Central Asia in order to be able countries there in the future. It was amazing and I think it may make some of the conservatives that worship that show take that message to heart.

EDIT: In case you don't know what I'm talking about, 24 is a popular action drama here in the US that airs on Fox at 9 pm EST. It revolves around a counter-terrorist agent that has to thwart terrorist threats all under 24 hours.

1. What is 24? A television channel? I'm not familiar with it.
Is there a web site/link for this information? :hi:

3. I did not but Law and Order SVU had a great message
this week, too!

Pretty cool episode about National Security and the FBI witholding information from the public.

5. What surprised me about 24 is that they've had conservative leanings...
in the past. I guess good ol' Jean Smart and Sean Astin got to them. :)

7. Glad to hear they are changing things up some.
I stopped watching a few episodes into season 2. I love Jean Smart, though--glad she's joined the cast. I didn't know that.

12. They seem to have been all over the place
In the second season, their plot was a variation of the Iraq war - various groups wanted to start a war on false pretenses to enrich a few oil men.

The fourth season had a sub plot where defense contractors sold arms to terrorists.

And in those first three seasons, the character that played the president was a liberal democrat.

One thing that has disturbes me about the show is this pretense that torture can be justified. I find that message appaling. But, I have to admit it's a well written, tense show, that is very addictive. The plot twists at the end of every episode is also very exciting.

6. Oh yeah
I saw that one before. Where the female cop gives information to a reporter and he goes to jail because he wouldn't turn over the source? I loved that episode.

8. Yes--that's the one!
It was awesome! I'd never seen it and loved it.

I love the moment at the end when she visits him in jail. He tells her that they did their jobs--she shared the info with him to protect others. He wrote the story and didn't share his source to inform others, part of the risk of doing his job. Made me wish there were at least a hundred more just like him in the realy world!

"24" just started (12 am EST.)

MANY THANKS for mentioning it; we forgot it was on tonight so now I'm TiVoing it to watch tomorrow.

Edit: OK, I should have said you can catch all but the first 20 minutes of it. Which will probably make it more confusing than usual! But it'll be fun, anyway. I'm still trying to figure out if the assassination of Palmer was for real.

9. I let out a loud Yow when the WH Chief of Staff let out the
WMD and oil motive. And I kept imagining that was Karl Rove getting the snot beat out of him by Jack Bauer!
