Read the whole thing, because it's good and it's important, but here are some of the more salient points:

Scalia and Thomas were both confirmed to the Supreme Court without a filibuster vote at all.

Democratic stalwarts whose praises we sing today for supporting the filibuster received some of the same pressure on the Iraq war vote. They voted in favor of war without a second thought back in 2002. This time around, they were voting for the filibuster. We had a profound effect with our calls, emails, letters and telegrams, and don't let anyone (especially anyone in the popular media) tell you otherwise. 25 votes in favor of a filibuster were a hell of a lot more than any of the cognoscenti expected.

Have a choice that is, sure we got our noses bloodied, but, we'll live the fights a long way from over. As long as I'm drawing breath I haven't any choice but to fight these monsters.
