Did they ever have a chance? Even if they lose the left wing activist vote, (us) will that have any impact on whether or not they win or lose? We are such a minute part of this Party, we can be ignored without consequence, or so they believe. Do you think that is true? Will their votes on Alito affect the Senate at all?

1. I think it depends on what Alito does
if he turns out as nasty as we expect, a lot of people are going to sit up and take notice.

2. No! Dem-o-pubs Blew It Big Time Yesterday
Edited on Tue Jan-31-06 11:04 AM by mntleo2
I think they just hurt themselves and Democrats should prepare to not see any improvement in 2008. As Roosevelt said, "Why vote for a Democrat who acts like a Republican when you can just vote for a Republican?"

These people have no morals, no patriotism, no vision, they are just like the Repigs they love to emulate. I detest them all, they are just a bunch of DC blowhards who do not have a clue and do not care about the Constitution, even though they swore to uphold it. They are ALL (Repigs and De-o-pubs) hypocrites and money grubbers. They do not give a rats ass about We The People, only themselves.

I am so disgusted I will be working against Marie Cantwell in my district now. She is just a DLC wannabe anyway, always following them around like a freaking puppy dog, licking their heels. We ALWAYS had to work on her hard to even BE a Democrat, she is so clueless about what We The People are all about. If a Republican gets in because the Dem running against her can't get it up, I do not care. F her!

If Democrats cannot even BE Democrats anymore, then I am through with them. I suspect people all over the nation feel the same way. Why vote for a bunch of nam-by pam by corporate whores, when they can vote for the real thing or "throw away" their vote on someone they actually believe in, and at least know what they've gotten?

My 2 cents

3. Only if Diebold and ES&S voting machines can be neutralized.
As long as Repuke operatives have access to corruptible voting machines, even if we win the vote, we will lose the count.

Democracy is dead in America. Why isn't this a bigger story?

12. not only the voting machines, but all of the other fraudulent . . .
elections actions that Republicans engage in . . . like purging voter registrations lists, not allowing certain voters to cast ballots, sending false notifications of changes in voting sites, etc. . . they employ a lot of tactics, controlling electronic voting being one of the most efficient and untraceable . . .

4. Well, at least Bernie Saunders should get in, God willing.
I'm not sure if the gop can be toppled this year. I know the most competitive local house race is not looking good for the dems...

7. No -- not for 20 or 30 years -- if ever
The take over is complete. They might feel the need to assassinate Justice Stevens and claim his death was due to "natural causes". In fact I'll bet we are going to see a cluster of early deaths due to natural causes.

Mike Malloy had a long very discouraging rant last night on this topic. And unfortuantely he is probably correct in his assessment.

America as we know it (or our deluded image of America) is dead.

The Constitution is really an old document -- so it must be replaced by secret legislation -- so secret that only when the cops come to arrest the enemies of the state will people know they have broken the law.

10. Current makeup of the Senate: 55 Republicans, 44 Democrats, 1 Indy
Jeffords, the Independent, is retiring. So his seat is up for grabs.

There are 15 other races where Republicans are either retiring or running for re-election, for a total of 16. To gain a simple majority in the Senate, we need to win 6-7 of those races, and lose none of our existing seats.

Tough call.

It may take to 2008 to take the Senate back...
