40 to 4 vs 1 to 54
That is the difference between the parties. Alito got four Democratic votes and lost 40 vs 54 Republicans losing 1. Assuming that kind of ratio a Senate with 54 Democrats would have defeated Alito (49 to 4 vs 1 to 45). You can quibble and say I actually need 55. In any case a more Democratic Senate would have defeated Alito. It might have been defeated in Committee.

When certain people try to tell you that there is no difference between the parties. Call them what they are. Liars. One party voted against Alito at a rate of 10 to 1 the other party voted in his favor at a rate of 54 to 1. Anyone who claims that isn't a difference is a liar, plain and simple.

5. The final vote was cover. They knew that they had nothing to
lose.

Notice how Snowe and a few of the Republican senators that are supposed to be "moderates" always vote against the party when passage of a bill is assured? That's cover.

6. Actually I noticed how the vote really went
Snowe voted for the man. Collins voted for the man. Only Chaffee on that side didn't. One isn't a few in any dictionary I have seen lately.

7. Take back the Senate
We have to take back the Senate. We can't allow the dumbass cowboy to appoint another Justice without real opposition. I don't want the right wing nutjobs telling me or my girlfriends that we have to have a baby if we don't want to. It is none of their fucking business.

These fucked up low IQ republicans are screwing this country over. We need more Democrats willing to stand up like Kennedy and Kerry. Why are our damn leaders so afraid of being called liberals. It is good to be a liberal. It means you give a shit about real things and real people. It isn't only about fucking money and who you can take it from to give it to your rich buddies.

8. Except you're counting the wrong vote
The cloture vote was the thing.

There it was Dems, 24:19 and Republicans 0:55. In other words, the Democrats were nearly split, while the republicans were unanimous. Great job there. :eyes:
