THE MISINFORMATION SUPER HIGHWAY
Depleted Uranium (DU) is one of the least understood, least reported on, byproducts hoisted on both; the Iraqi & Afghani populations. But it doesn't stop there, others exposed are U.S. G.I.'s and the private sector employees working in Iraq & Afghanistan since the invasion and subsequent occupation. There is plenty of information out on the information super highway but just as much misinformation is to be found. Not too surprising due to the trend of news-gathering by bloggers and freely distributed on web sites. The power of free speech is just that, powerful. What is truly alarming is the purposeful misinformation being distributed by our government. The DoJ is taking unproven information from web sites and converting it for their own use to further their agenda, this propaganda then takes on a life of its own. Welcome to another tentacle of neo-fascism.

In one report: http://usinfo.state.gov/mena/Archive/2004/Feb/11-575985.html taken from the "Far-Right-Libertarian" web site www.reason.com, scientist and Reason.com editor, Ronald Bailey, claims that DU is edible. does that mean it's fine to eat if you don't mind the taste? Common sense dictates that no one with half a brain, say George W. Bush, would feed DU to their children. Common sense also dictates that after reading Bailey's papers, one may come to the conclusion that Bailey has a very determined political agenda. Not only does Bailey believe that DU is harmless, he also asserts that those wary of DU contamination are "activists."

Bailey doesn't stop with Depleted Uranium, he is a staunch supporter of GM (Genetically Modified) foods - both livestock and crops. For some reason, perhaps more of the same political motivation, Bailey is indeed intent upon forcing the European Union to adopt GM foods through the Codex alimentarius; http://www.codexalimentarius.net/web/index_en.jsp Bailey states; "What can Canada and the United States do to win this trade war and foster the spread of GM foods?" He goes on to say that the US and Canada should basically blind side the EU by calling a halt to the precautionary standards set up by Codex where it is common practice that bioengineered - GM (mutant) food be labeled as such. He suggests that GM foods be unlabeled leaving them untraceable. He elaborates by suggesting that the major food producing nations join in a united effort against the EU. A quote from Bailey is as follows: "The US must persuade all the chief food exporting countries... to create a united front against the EU, leaving Europe with no sources for non-biotech feed grain imports.' This, Bailey says, is the only way to prevent millions in the developing world from being starved."

This is the science that the US Govt. is relying upon. Toss all other research aside which suggests far reaching problems that stem from DU exposure and GM foods. Bailey's science works for the administration and so it is now the standard. I guess we are fortunate that Mr. Bailey has not come to a conclusion regarding global warming.
