A down and dirty Republican mud brawl starring Mean Jean
Schmidt chafes at opponent cutting her cake throat

“As a public official you must have thick skin,” embattled Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio) said in a release yesterday. Thick enough to repel a cake knife, even.

In an e-mail headed “Cutting Off Head in Effigy Way Too Far,” Schmidt called out her onetime opponent and longtime antagonist, state Rep. Tom Brinkman (R), for beheading her image on a cake Monday night.

According to Schmidt, “All laughed as placed the knife to my throat and cut. They had a great time pretending to cut off my head.”

“It was fairly gruesome,” said Schmidt’s campaign manager, Allen Freeman. “It’s just so immature, it’s unbelievable.”

In a statement e-mailed to The Hill, Brinkman said, “She is shameless and continues to embarrass. ... Nevertheless, she is on my prayer list.”

I think that's gonna be THE punchline of the year.

Good Lord, my husband and I were talking about this just last night - it reminded both of us of that "Saturday Night Live" routine sticking it to Claudine Longet - who'd shot and killed her lover, the skier Spider Savich. They had all this footage edited together showing skier after skier taking bad falls down mountainsides in the middle of a run, and every one was greeted with a voiceover saying "OUCH! And he's been accidentally shot by Claudine Longet!" We were in serious pain laughing about that one (maybe that stitch in our sides came from being accidentally shot by Claudine Longet...) :P

I just read that article and googled Brinkman.. come to find out that I went to grade school with him.. eek... a republican..
but of course it is Cincinnati.. I also went to school with the infamous Keatings also...

Little tommy brinkman... he always was a bit "odd"... He and Mean Jean are a good pair.
