Republican Senate candidate Katherine Harris, recipient of more than $50,000 in campaign contributions from a defense contractor involved in a bribery scheme, is giving the money to Habitat for Humanity.

Harris will donate $52,000 in contributions from executives of MZM Inc., along with $2,000 in contributions from American Indian tribes linked to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, her campaign said.

Contributions to Harris from MZM employees and the company's political action committee made it the biggest single campaign donor in her 2004 congressional re-election campaign.

U.S. Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, R-Calif., pleaded guilty in November to taking bribes from MZM.

Let's see: Bush (TX, WH), DeLay (TX) Abramoff (DC), Ney (OH), Noe (OH), Harris (FLA), Cunningham (CA)....

Somehow I get the feeling this chain is linked to the elections.

2. Question about these sleazebags donating tainted money...
They don't get to be acknowledged in anyway by the organizations they're dumping this money on, do they?

For example, Habitat for Humanity wouldn't list Katherine Harris on their list of "supporting donors" would they??

If they did acknowledge her donation, she'd probably just add that to her campaign website.

Politicians shouldn't be allowed to benefit at all when they the only reason they're donating is to rid themselves of the dirty money.

Feds' memo highlights Cunningham's audacity

Fresh details of the crimes of Randy “Duke” Cunningham make clear why he has never cited the corrupting culture of Washington as an excuse for his behavior.

Cunningham, we now know, took to corruption with an enthusiasm and single-mindedness that are rare even by Washington standards.

His conduct over six years, as spelled out Friday by federal prosecutors seeking a maximum 10-year prison sentence, was unflinchingly mercenary, especially as it pertained to his love of extravagant living and expensive toys. Once, he demanded the use of a private jet to take him yacht shopping, with no intention of paying for either.

But for all the instances of free dinners and French commodes, what stands out most about the Republican ex-congressman in the government sentencing memorandum is his insatiability.
