Why don't Repubs address Gore's comments rather than personally attack?
Did our government randomly roundup Arabs without reason and put them in conditions unworthy of American rule of law? The Repubs now say that Gore gave his speech in the country where most of the hijackers came from? It's good to see them finally recognize that. For years now, as Democrats were trying to point out that fact, and arging that maybe we invaded the wrong country, the Repubs pick up the Democrats' argument to use it against Al Gore...

4. they prep. they practice.
it's vastly easier to prep and practice personal attacks, because all you need to know is hear is the name of your opponent and your well-rehearsed list of personal attacks comes up, you just pick one.

to respond to the substance of their argument requires real-time thinking. far more difficult to rehearse.

5. Gore chose the wrong venue for his comments.
I do not approve US politicians kissing up to the Saudis.

Saudi Arabia is one of the world's greatest abusers of human rights. If one wants to talk about human rights abuses there, one should talk about their vicious implementation of shari'a, and their oppression of religious minorities. I think Gore made a mistake. The freepers have no room to talk, because they never minded Bush kissing up to the Saudis. Unlike the freepers, I have no problem consistently applying my views to Democrat and Republican alike.

13. Why
give the damn Republicans any ammunition to use as propaganda..Al Gore gave them that ammunition..Whether he was right or wrong by giving this speech in Saudi Arabia it was poor judgement.

and are unable to critically reason the numerous facets of the issues.

Perhaps it's all that beer the "investor class" drinks on the weekends while they bop women other than their wives, hunt FARM raised Quail and occasionally shoot a friend in the face? :puke:

7. They know their audience
Their base does not care about facts, or peace or the constitution. Republicans only have to throw chum at their ignorants masses. They have been trained to hate gore and act appropriately. Its really quite an easy gig.

9. I don't know if Gore was asked a question or if it was part of prepared ..
speech? Al Gore is a very savvy politician, so he had ot know his comments would be very cntroversial? I wonder what was the motivation? But, bottom line, I think he told the truth. And the Saudis need truth as much as anyone else - perhaps more?

12. Terrified of a "Draft Gore Movement?" Realizing that there are many
of us out here who are still angry that Bush and Supremes stole an election?

The way Repugs think...they know "vendetta." They think the Left might rise up and install Gore at some point just the way the Right has been whining over Bork and Goldwater for decades. They figure the "tables could be turned" on them of the Activist Left Dems are as dedicated as "their RW" was for so long.

Gore scares the hell out of them. Imagine if a whistleblower really blew the lid off Florida. It would mean a Constitutional crisis because Bush was an illegitmate President. I know I'm dreaming ....but I still think some day it will all come out with definite proof that these people are not legitimate so Impeaching wasn't necessary...they were Illegitimate to begin with.
