What would Bush do if there was a massive
Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 09:46 AM by LetsGoMurphys
Longshoreman's Union Strike over the port sale? Also, what would be the general reaction? Shut it down and let all perishable goods rot and hit them in the pocket. It could be the nail in the coffin for Bush. (or nail #465)

1. Probably not, because inconvenienced people in the heartland
would just blame the unions. They always do.

It might be necessary. I'd dearly love to see a massive strike over this.

Outsourcing has got to stop, period. Outsourcing port security is INSANE, and not just because it's to Dubai (I'm sure their multinational corporation would do an OK job). I'd be just as upset if it were outsourced to the UK or Canada.

2. i go one step further. outsourcing even to AMERICAN companies is insane
national security is the ONE thing everyone, even libertarians and small governmentalists, agrees that government should do.

4. I go even further...
Port security should not be handled by a private concern period. That is something that should be under the jurisdiction of law enforcement and the military. What the hell was DHS created for anyway? I can't imagine their sole purpose is to harass library patrons and air travelers.

3. He would finish the job Reagan started, and kill the unions for good.

I think he'd use such a strike as an illustration to the American sheeple that unions are, indeed, a bunch of Commie organizations getting together -- now to oppose the security of the U.S. He'd rally the non-thinkers to his side. He'd tally his base to the ballot-box.

btw... and fwiw... the same thing will happen if they DON'T strike. I think the Bushies now have this country by the short hairs and they will take it down, walk away with all the money, and go live elsewhere while another entity -- China or Al Queda -- takes us over. They don't care. They'll be long-gone by the time it happens.

7. Nothing just like the last time the union shut down the
west coast ports......he doesn't have enough army troops to send in.

8. exactly
Shut it down! I know many of you are pessimistic about how the public would react to this, but I believe that it would be the end for BushCo if a massive strike happened in the name of national security. The only thing he is hanging on to is his national secuirity platform (because people are brainwashed not because hes actually effective with his policies).
