A couple of great pictures from WA Monday....Dean and McDermott.
And others. Dina has a great post up at Kos tonight. There is a link to some pictures of the training session...huge crowd. Proud of Washington, wish we could garner crowds like that here.

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/2/21/22833/1156

"Just about every WA DEM VIP was speaking: our new chair Dwight Peltz, Governor Gregoire, Jim Mcdermott, and all of the other WA reps, plus 2 candidates, Darcy Burner & one from Eastern WA, trying to unseat Repubs. I love the pictures of the Dem congressmen backing up Darcy.
I also ran into my 34th District Reps Joe McDermott & Eileen Cody, Seattle City Council members, LD chairs, etc.

WAIT, WAS SOMEONE MISSING?
I saw Maria Cantwell campaign signs and Maria Cantwell T-shirts; Dean, Peltz, McDermott and Gregoire energetically talked up Cantwell, urging her re-election, reminding us of her courageous battle with oil monsters in Alaska--but Maria herself was not present! Hmmm...She was invited, but must've been too busy to attend this event and speak to a thousand hard-core Dem activists from all over the state. Maybe she washes her hair on Monday nights, or was enjoying a well-deserved holiday, Presidents' Day. Or an important meeting ran overtime, unfortunately...

I'll add there was a hearty serving of red-meat antiwar rhetoric from McDermott and Peltz, a war the U.S. should "NEVER HAVE STARTED," to roars of approval from the crowd. That could've been embarrassing for Senator "No Regrets"--had she decided to attend. Cantwell, on the rare occasions she acknowledges that a bloody occupation in Iraq is ongoing, still believes it's for their own good, apparently, democracy and all that, you know. As for the U.S. troops, hey, thanks for sacrificing your time, sweat, blood tears, limbs, short-term memory, whatever, for the same. "

Belly laugh

Huge crowd

And here's her link to the picture gallery of the event...large pics, take time to load on dialup....worth it though.

2. I am so jealous of the crowd.
We have just not reached that level in Florida yet. But we are working on it.

4. "All that glitters is not gold..."
The "electeds" in the Democratic Party are trying to marginalize the candidate who is challenging Sen. Maria Cantwell in the September primary. I am disheartened that McDermott, Dean, Inslee, and others (including Pelz, the new state Chair of the WA State Democratic Party) are refusing to recognize that there is HUGE opposition to Cantwell. They are refusing to acknowledge that we have a serious challenger for the Democratic Senate seat -- Mark Wilson. Maria Cantwell cannot win reelection in Washington because of her position of support for the War on Iraq, continuing financial support for the war, failure to help stop the Alito confirmation, her vote to confirm Condoleezza Rice, her vote to confirm John Negroponte, and her votes for NAFTA and CAFTA. We not only CAN do better; we MUST do better!  :hurts:

5. Dean did not marginalize...don't know about the others.
He would tell you just like he told a DNC special interest group who did not like a senator's stance....vote for whom you prefer. He said that, he meant it.

I am not getting into the dynamics there...we have enough of them in Florida. We are dealing with it the best way we can.

I do know the pictures show a pretty dynamic bunch, that is what it looks like.

Nothing really glitters, but it is nice to see some good times going on.

6. Why wasn't Cantwell at the events?
Did you read Dina's diary?

7. Speaking of Western states...
And speaking of the 2008 Democratic Convention again, sounds like Dean is intrigued by Denver.

From the Rocky Mountain News:

"People who study the demographics of where the vote is and where the potential for the vote is now realize that the Western states are critical for us winning the White House in 2008."

"Dean knows this and he’s actually going out there and recruiting people on the basis of delivering a Western convention center," said Stratton, adding that members of the convention city selection committee will include Denver supporters, like Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez.

Giddy Up, we may be going to Denver!

You are up LATE!

11. Didn't notice.
If I stay up late (early)...I just sleep later. That is the nicest part of being retired. If I have meetings the next day, then I make myself go to bed earlier...but I have always been a night owl. I think some people are born that way. And getting up early as I did for years was a total nightmare to me.

12. Great photos! Howard gets EVERYBODY up on their feet.
What a tonic he is! That's what he did at our state convention last spring, here in downtown L.A. - had EVERYBODY up on their feet. He manages the meat department, and knows we're serious carnivores.
