Pre-Emptive Blogging: Talking Points For a Coming Attack From the Right:
As Iraq spirals into a shitstorm of violence and vengeance, even as some Sunnis and some Shiites try desperately to avert a direct, overwhelming hit by said shitstorm, at some point soon, some right wing bag of douche is going to proclaim that liberals are "happy" or "thrilled" by a civil war in Iraq. Liberals can be accused of enabling terrorists by using the dwindling "freedom of speech" we're allowed, and it's a pretty small rhetorical leap from saying the left wants American soldiers to die (which the right has done) to saying the left loves us some civil war. Yes, liberals will be viciously insulted (defamed, even) by conservative commentators, bloggers, Freeper frothers, as if somewhere, in an oh-so-hip underground club, liberals are gathered in an orgy of celebration over the infinite bloodletting in Iraq, chanting gleefully, "Told you so, told you so, told you so" as they toast with cosmos and down sushi.

2. Joe Scarborough already said the Democrats wanted a civil war.
He said it on Hardball last Friday but when I searched the transcript it says "politicians".

Did MSNBC tamper with the transcript or is my memory wrong? Hmmmm.

"But I will say this, for all those politicians in Washington hoping that a civil war will break out so George Bush will fail, they don't need to be anymore excited than the neo-cons are after every election goes well in Iraq, because I still think this is going to be a long road ahead of us. "

3. "Yes, liberals will be viciously insulted"
by "shitstorm" and "bag of douche" violent frothing -- a "pretty small rhetorical leap from" macho shite talk to "an orgy of celebration over" agressive actions to violent behavior, reinforced by ALL THAT ANGER

4. I also suspect we'll hear that we lost this war because
liberals didn't support our troops or our president.

Whatever happens, we can be absolutely sure that it will be our fault.

5. people will know better...
there's no way that meme could succeed at this juncture... yes these assholes will try it and milk it for all they think it's worth, but in the end - people are turning away from this war and this president not because Liberals didn't support it - because too many of them did in fact support it - but because citizens have finally woken up out of their hypnosis.

once that happens, it's over.
