I wanna rant about TORTURE.

THIS ADMINISTRATION HAS NO HUMANITY.
They have made torture routine and pervasive in everything they do.

THIS ADMINISTRATION HAS NO SHAME.
They have lawyers justifying it, rationalizing it as something its not. The attorney general gives permission to torture. Gonzales says tieing a human being to a board and holding him under water until he drowns and has to be revived is acceptable. Other lawyers say as long as there is no organ failure, its not torture.
THESE ARE PEOPLE SWORN TO UPHOLD THE LAW. Instead, they find ways to give this administration permission to ignore the law.

THIS ADMINISTRATION CANNOT EVEN BE OPEN ABOUT HOW THEY TORTURE.
They flat out deny it. Instead of feeling remorse, instead of finding compassion, they attack anyone who suggests they are torturing. They accuse that person of being a threat to national security. They accuse someone who objects to torture as providing aid to the enemy.

THIS ADMINISTRATION HAS COLLECTED AN INTERNATIONAL NETWORK OF TORTURERS.
They secretly, under cover of night, deliver victims to other countries to do the torturing for us, as if that absolves us from blame.

THIS ADMINISTRATION NO LONGER CARES IF THE TORTURE VICTIMS HAVE USEFUL INFORMATION.
They have tortured people they KNEW were innocent. They have tortured family members they KNEW were innnocent, in order to get people to talk.

THIS ADMINISTRATION IS DOING TORTURE FOR TORTURE'S SAKE.
Dr. Mengele would have been so proud. Dear God, what have they done? NOT IN MY NAME!

THIS ADMINSTRATION HAS TAKEN US TO A NEW LEVEL OF DESTRUCTIVE DIPLOMACY.
ANYONE who deigns to rationalize torture is no longer human. And by adopting this heinous policy, they have slathered blood not only on their own hands, but on ours unwillingly by association. How can any other country view us with anything other than justifiable suspicion and fear, contempt?

THIS ADMINISTRATION, BY THIS ONE POLICIY, HAS BECOME THE EMBODIMENT OF EVIL.

stop. please stop. Do whatever you have to do to stop this.

9. It's mine, too.
It's the one that leads me to open my mouth to friends and relatives who want to close their ears.

Last night I ruined someone's evening, someone that I care about very much, and I have felt so awful about everything all day.

Tonight Colbert made a comment during "The Word" segment. He said that "tragedies, like facts, need to simply be ignored".

I feel angry, and inhuman. Angry that the whole town, the whole country won't rally about this issue. Inhuman because I brazenly and heartlessly step into the personal lives of loved ones who already are depressed (or barely coping) and bring them down further.

In the meantime, these bast***s in Washington are dictating that human beings will be shackled to the wall of cold dark cells and subjected to loud music/screaming 24 hours a day for months on end.

I think I hear the echoes of that loud music/screaming from the other side of the world.

11. yours and mine too Lerkfish
the judge in ACLU vs. DOD will not let the stalling go on forever. When those videos are made public, there will be a backlash in the Arab world like nothing we have seen (and, let's hope, in public opinion).

6. And they masquerade as if they were pro-life.
It's all fake. I've always known it. Phoneys, one and all. Many don't know they are following a fake agenda. Shiavo? Bullshit. They just follow along. No different than Jim Jones.

I go to bed every night thinking of those in our custody. I feel just as you do. This is torture for us too, as we have compassion for those who we cannot help.

We could go on at length on this subject. But it's too simple to complicate. They care not about life. Not one shred.

Edit--I just Googled "Darby" and found it. Thanks.

I didn't know that the initial set of photographs was called the "Darby Photographs."

12. And Like All Repug Lies, It Doesn't Even Work
There is a massive amount of data available on torture, including declassified CIA papers from the 1960s, which I've read. The most effective means of getting information from a prisoner is sleep deprivation, any other types of abuse are purely sadistic and worthless as the information cannot be believed.

Oh, and there's the tiny little question of morals which starts to really bother the torturers themselves in a very short period of time. That is, if the torturers had any human qualities to begin with.

The fake "leadership" the repukes have foisted on America is the worst we have ever seen. The only other regimes that have systematically tortured people with the approval of the highest levels of gov't are Nazi Germany and the USSR, and they never even officially sanctioned it.

Torture is a war crime, plain and simple. Our fake leaders are war criminals and should be treated accordingly.

17. I agree with you completely
I was born in 1943, and remember all of the movies back then about WWII, or Korea, one huge difference between the good guys, and the bad guys. The bad guys attacked first, and they used torture. The U.S. was the power for good...we would never attack first, and we would never, ever, under any circumstance, use torture.

WE are now the evil ones. I can't stand to watch the crazed Chimp, but when I read some of his speeches, he claims to be for peace, and democracy. He has made this country less of a democracy by seizing more power for himself, and his idea of peace is apparently to start WWIII in the Middle East. I wouldn't feel comfortable visiting another country, I'd feel so ashamed of the horror that this little tyrant has inflicted on the world.
