Well I've done it. I'm on the ballot for committeeman.

Not that anyone noticed, but I mentioned a few weeks ago that my Democratic committeemen were actually neo-cons, complete with Santorum and Bush stickers on their cars and all. Well I decided that I am going to run against the one that's up this year for re-election. I will officially be on the ballot for Philadelphia's 39th Ward, 39th District as I have had the petitions filled out, notarized and sent in. These guys always run uncontested, so it's time they got a contest. I have backing from my union and I have some influential friends, not the least of which is my wife who knows the whole neighborhood. She was the youngest Home and School President we've ever had in our school district and is well liked by everyone. It's a minor position, basically covering about 5 square city blocks but it's a start.

I'm considering running a Rovian smear campaign against the dude, distributing flyers with pictures of his car with the Republican stickers and all, asking if anyone knew our committeemen where actually Bush fans and shit like that. I don't know if that would be over the top or not though for such a bottom position in the party but it does seem like it would be fun.

Know what you mean about the party dinosaurs. Years ago our county chair for the Democratic Party dropped off some materials at my house. When I walked him to the porch, I happen to notice the back of his truck was loaded with Reagan signs he was going to put up.

As for the "smear campaign" just keep it absolutely factual and ALWAYS show proof for every last word. By all means don't take their words out of context and that way the neocons you're up against can't claim you're telling any lies or even half truths. GO FOR IT BUDDY!!!!!!!!!
