Shays Spills GOP Secret: Party's plan to endorse Lieberman
Edited on Wed Mar-01-06 09:27 AM by Atman
Is there any doubt NOW which party Joltin' Joe really serves? Was there ever? And do you think any of these people will actually back off their plan to vote for Joe anyway? All this article says is that the CT Republican Party may no longer formally endorse Joe...

Shays Spills GOP Secret
Party Backing Off Talk Of Joining Lieberman's Side

March 1, 2006
By MARK PAZNIOKAS, Courant Staff Writer

It's been the subject of whispered conversations among top Republican officials for the past month. Now, U.S. Rep. Chris Shays, R-4th District, has let slip the secret: GOP officials have discussed cross-endorsing Democratic Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman this fall.

In an interview Monday with the editorial board of The Advocate of Stamford, Shays said he intends to vote for Lieberman and is encouraging a Republican endorsement of the three-term senator.

he remark was not immediately reported by The Advocate, but it set off a flurry of calls among Republicans who have been gauging support for the idea among GOP candidates, including Gov. M. Jodi Rell and U.S. Reps. Rob Simmons, R-2nd District, and Nancy L. Johnson, R-5th District.

One GOP operative who was aware of the discussions said premature public disclosure of the possible cross-endorsement probably would kill the idea.

That seems to be case.

He's been working hard for them since 2000. I pray that someone ousts Loserman in the Dem primary.

8. Lierman - err - Liberman a true Elephant in Donkey Duds
No f*ing kidding. This guy spouts Repuke all over the place.
I get nausauated when I hear him described as a Moderate Dem.
Has he responded to the Dubi sell-out and Dubi's refusal to acknowledge Israel?

10. he's a good "social programs" supporter
when his nose isn't skull deep in Bush's ass.

But that's not enough to qualify as a mainstream or moderate democrat. He downplays or else stands against GLBT equality issues, he's irrationally in support of Israel's former expansion policies, and he's for unjustifiable war, probably for the same reason.

Just because you give a damn about the poor (married heterosexuals), doesn't qualify you to represent us or call yourself a democrat.

5. That is it - Good thing I don't live in Conn.
I'm on my local Dem Town Comm in MA and if I held the same position in Conn. I'd be hoarse I'd be screaming so much

If the repugs endorse JL (I can't even bring myself to write his name anymore)the Democratic Party in Conn needs to take a cold hard look at JL

They need to take a cold hard look at anyone who endorses JL

I'm begging any Dem activists in Conn to get behind Lamont and do whatever they can to stop this

9. Of course, I was mistaken...Joe serves only Joe
Thank you for pointing that out, Mr. Benchly. Because he certainly isn't serving any real democrats I know. Or Americans for that matter. Have you read the polls, lately, sir? Do you know how many Americans support this war? Who, exactly, is Mr. Leiberman serving, Mr. Benchly? Almost all of the right-wing's support comes from Christian extremists and billionaires. And then there's Joe.

Joe serves Joe. Joe doesn't serve the voters who elected him in good faith to represent them. I know. I have a stack of his crappy form letters to help prove it.

... how do you know he wouldn't accept one? That's a pretty bold statement, after all why wouldn't he? I wish he's just register as a Repug and get it over with, I'm tired of him giving the talking point noise machine more bogus "democratic" words.

12. Fascist in Donkey Suit, you'll know them by their fruit. Infil-TRAITOR Joe
Can it be any more obvious, just like Judas in the inner circle of Jesus' disciples, the RW Fascists have their supporters in the Democratic Party. The War Resolution, the support for ALITO, the reluctance to fight tooth and nail for Medicare, School funding and Union and regulating corporate abuses (Any body have a tracking computer chip in-serted in their ass here? because it's done in corporate amerika right now) OIL war threats to Venezuela, Iran Iraq, Tolerating the Saudi Royals even after their hijacker perpetraitors destroyed the World Trade Center Towers!
What's it take, Dems, to get you to see the reality of COMPROMISE with these maniacle politicians.

It might help him in the general election. But, very few Repubs will switch Party to vote for Lieberman, unless in CT, they can vote either Party in primary??

Republicans hope that they can kill off Lieberman in the primary in the hope of getting a weaker candidate that they can beat in the general.
