Bush: "If I worried about polls, I wouldn't be doing my job,"
As we all know, Bush isn't in touch with the public because he's not in touch with the polls. You can hardly blame him since he probably knows that his party was instrumental in manipulating polls prior to election time to create whatever effect they wanted. But, this doesn't help him today when he's beginning to get the image of being a disconnected president.

Unfortunately, for his faithful voters, this disconnect is seen as a strength and they believe he's strong because he sticks to a plan and doesn't veer from it regardless of the consequences. They don't stop to consider that Bush never thoroughly investigated the information to determine that his plan was good to begin with, and they will refuse to admit he made a mistake until someone throws cold water on them.

So, why don't we throw cold water on them all and start calling Bush's style of management A Hamburger Hill mentality. If memory serves, Hamburger Hill was a hill that had no military importance but was won one day to be lost the next. Each day the higher ups kept sending boys up the Hill to win the "vantage" point, only to leave it unsecured, and lost again the next day. I believe they named it Hamburger Hill because of the number of soldiers that were lost in the futile exercise.

I'm editorializing to get my point across. Maybe someone with more accurate information about Hamburger Hill can post to explain better.

3. The polls are people and the people are the polls
Those are real people, real Americans who respond to these polls. So Bush is really just saying that he does not pay attention to what the American people say and believe.

4. The fact that you're NOT doing you job...

5. Who in the world could relish being unpopular
except a sociopath. I'm positive Bush obsesses over his poll numbers. The Bush public shtick about how he doesn't read polls or read the papers has been debunked multiple times.

6. public schtick
He's like a bad actor claiming that he doesn't read his reviews. Everything he does is to get his poll numbers up. And the really shitty stuff that he does is like a big "Screw you" to the American people--and the world--for giving him such low approval ratings.

9. "The Polls" say bush is not doing
"his job"..and should be fired. But, of course, bush is too damn stupid to comprehend anything much less that.
