Is It Me Or Is There A Concerted Effort Going On Lately To Make * .....
look bad? I know he is incompetent - but with all the bad pub he's been getting lately - it almost looks like some force is finally out to do him in by discrediting him:

- the new AP Katrina tape
- the Ports issue
- the Cheney hunting fiasco
- the NSA spying story

Seems like the levee broke in the WH.

Where's KKKarl?

Looks like the WH is contiually in spin/cover mode to prop up the Chimp.

There's no time for anything wortbwhile to come out of the WH. And it's not like the DEMS are doing this - the Chimp is actually doing this to himself.

1. No... The problem is that the concerted effort to make him look good is..
failing in the face of how bad he really is!

2. The Bush Regime is collapsing
it's the Final Throes... the last gasp...
a bit of a violent upheaval... but it's the end.
The end of corrupt administration that used
dishonesty to prop themselves up.
Soon... soon we'll just need flowers and a eulogy.
Nahhhhhhhhh
let em rot
without flowers
without memorial
without regard

a nicer guy - but - what's going on behind the scenes?

Has the MSM finally got balls?

Is he being toppled from the inside out? or

Is he just bringing this all on himself? (he he - bring it on).

7. I have a theory about what I think is happening
and it is so sinister and coniving that it could only originate from the depths of the bowels of Rove himself (and you might ask what I'm doing in Rove's bowels that I know of this plan? Good question, and excuse me, I need to go take a shower now)... but anyway...

Rove has long vision, the kind of vision that the people who run ports need to have, the long view they call it. We Americans are typically so caught up in the immediate (out of necessity, I know) that we think in 2 or 4 year increments as best. But Karl has been planning for a long time, and he has long range vision.

Here's what I think he's planning (and has planned):

Get Bush/neo-cons in power and let them rape pillage and plunder the treasury. Eventually, say, after 5 years or so, the American people are going to start to notice something is amiss.

So throw Bush in as a sacrifice, and let the democrats pick up seats in 06 and the presidency in 08 -- but the SCOTUS is safely tucked away for a rainy day.

Problem is, the damage done during Bush's tenure is so massive that there's no hope of fixing it in anyway that is even remotely painless--meaning, the dems have to play the Bad Cop and raise taxes and make hard decisions to try to get the country back on track. In the meantime, international relations have gone to hell in a handbasket and the world is at our doorstep demanding payback.

After four years of this, the Republican platform will play up bigtime at how the dems were unable to fix the problems, and that we have to let the neo-cons back into power to clean it all up the right way.

And the American people will buy it (of course) and that will be the end of the story, forever more, and Karl will have his 60 year rule that he so desperately seeks.

By then, we'll all be cast by the wayside, though; the neocons will have moved on to their PNAC/global empire dream where all their labor needs are provided by anyone but Americans. America will have been destroyed by the inside out.

::sigh:: Or am I just being pessimistic?

11. The scary part...
as I see it, is that your scenario makes a perverted kind of sense.

If they screw things up badly enough, the next administration (probably Democratic) won't have a prayer.

13. "Powers that be" have decided that Bush is a liability--not Rove
Karl Rove is a hired hand. They'll throw him overboard with Shrub and Cheney.

I really believe that Big Business, the Power Elite, the Masters of the Universe or whatever you want to call them have gotten what they wanted from Bush and are now throwing him to the wolves just as they did with Clinton after he gave them NAFTA and GATT.

I'd say two corporate friendly Supreme Court Justices were enough for them--these people think long haul--and now it's time to let the media go to work on the little emperor. Somewhere in an oak panelled club a group of investment bankers are chuckling over their brandy and cigars.

They'll let the people have their Democracy. The next President may in fact be a Democrat. However, he or she will play the game according to their rules. Anyone who won't play the game will be taken out in the primaries. The media is really good at covering up the sins of those their masters favor and at exposing the belly button lint of those they distrust.

So now we, the little people, can sit back and enjoy the spectacle of our despised Commander in Chief being slowly and excrutiatingly thrown under a bus. If you can't do anything about it you might as well laugh.

16. I agree on all counts...
.. fact is, I've never bought in to this idea that the "media" is totally controlled. The "media" is a profit-seeking enterprise. Sure, Fox is blatantly biased for Bush**, and many of the others also, but why?

One could make the case that they were simply telling the people what they want to hear. That is what gets viewers, not news, especially not BAD news, but a steady stream of "aren't we a great country and aren't we the world's savior and isn't our glorious leader grand" is all that most Americans can handle. They really cannot handle the truth, it is as simple as that.

But.... there comes a time when people get restless. Despite all the rah-rah cheerleading, they cannot get their heads around the fact that we are failing on every front. At some point, Americans become angry. At that "tipping" point, what they want to hear is not rah-rah happy talk, but they want the dirt, they want to see derision heaped upon those who are to blame.

We are there right about now. And there is a very good chance that it is going to get a lot worse for Bush and his band of losers and not in the distant future either.

17. Oh, horseshit
any one of the cabal "news" networks could have raked in HUGH ratings by running with all the stories of *'s lying, incompetence, and corruption. But none of them did it - they all recited WH talking points every night. They're all repubs.

.... after 911 the country was in no mood to hang the government out to dry. Now they are.

When they do, you'll have to concede that your idea is horseshit, not mine.

on edit: also, I'd make the case that Fox in particular is set up to promote the RW agenda. But CNN followed for ratings, not ideology.

Of course, Fox's ratings have been steadily dropping since the 2004 election. At some point, even they will join whatever circus is bringing in viewers.
