DU this: Poll on High School students trying Bush on war crimes
Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 07:27 AM by karynnj
A local high school teacher is having his AP Goverment and Politics class do a mock war crimes trial of Bush. Aparently, this has been picked up by talk radio and they are creating a furor, even though this is an AP class and he did a mock Clinton impeachment trial. These are really really smart well informed kids. Please vote for this.

By, the way this is from what I think is the most Republican county in NJ. (Morris), though Parsippany is one of the more Democratic areas.

4. Got it
I believe this is highly educational. Present the evidence, make a decision based on the evidence. That's more than is being done by adults.

Having studied quite a bit of the evidence myself, I predict a guilty verdict.

7. They have a compromise with the principal, that they will stop
short of actually getting a verdict - but they will prepare and present the case. I hope they have a young Kerry-like "prosecutor". It sounds like a greaT class.

The fact that he did a mock Clinton impeachment trial shows this wasn't politically motivated.

I heard a kid from the Bush defense team on talk radio yesterday. The kid had a great ability to see both sides of an issue. I wish the critics of this exciting idea for a school exercise could see both sides, the way the kids do.

16. This is AP folks;
meaning it is college level. If parents don't want their kids to expand their minds and consider such things they should just send them to Bob Jones U. and create more conservative sheep.

20. The complaints aren't coming from tha kids or their parents
Apparently, a small article in this newspaper made its way to hate radio. The local Republicans are up in arms - but the principal agreed to it before they did it.

total votes were 1000+

For the record I voted that it was educational and appropriate, my only regret is that it's not the real thing.
