Single Payer System
I suck at googling, does anyone know any decent books or sites that have current information on a US Single Payer System?

I am doing a paper on it and I need stats.

3. Here;s where to get some articles
Go to the NIH Pub Med Search Engine--
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi

Search on Steffi Woolhandler and/or David Himmelstein

They have done the best - and most readable research.

4. Also look at the "Federal Employee Health Benefits Program"
Not single-payer and it's an existing system that wouldn't have to be created from scratch...just expanded.

It's what Dean was advocating in 2004.

6. No Dean was advocating expanding Medicare, getting catastrophic
and expanding medicaid.

I would have to go pull out some of the campaign materials I have lying around but that is what he always said to us in AZ.

7. I'm a member of FEHBP...I distinctly remember Dean advocating expanding
the plan.

I didn't intend to make this a Dean isssue. My point was that the FEHBP, expanded to include everybody, could be an alternative to a single-payer plan.

8. It is cool, I just never remember him saying it. :)
I have to read all of these articles that the other person lead me to before I can ask a sensible question regarding the FEHBP and its expansion. Especially since not all medical treatments might be covered, such as the really expensive $1,000,000 a heart replacement or something.

13. you might want to try the WHO for some data for comparative
systems of health care internationally. A universal healthcare system makes a big difference to quality of life, even in countries that are ridiculously poor and can't afford top notch care. You might get a shock when you see where the USA come globally in infant mortality rates.
